Would the 0 and 11 team from 1999 beat this 2020 team?

It would be competitive. That 0-11 team at least played with heart.
That defense was solid. Our team today would have a difficult time scoring. Our defense is bad enough now where that 99-00 team may get a few points.
This team did beat Auburn, a down team but certainly better than our 99-00 team. I’d say this team would likely win, but only because Lou was trying to establish a style of football that season. If you took the players on the teams and let them run whatever offense / defense they wanted to, that 99-00 team had better players.

This team would not score on the 99 team. The score would probably be 7-0.
The 1-10 Brad Scott team was the worst team we ever had. This team would beat it like a drum.
Yes, the 1999 team played with heart. I'm not going to look up the scores but if I remember correctly they lost several games by a total of 10 points. If that was the case the 1999 team would blow them out the 2020 team.
That team played 6 QBs that season but I think Phil Petty played the last game against Clemson and we did pretty good when he regained his health. Without Petty, this team would beat them IMO.
I had season tickets that year. The one thing about that year is you saw the discipline of the team improving every game. The team played hard and was in several games and continued to improve throughout the year.
This gets lost in the discussion. That 1-10 team was much worse. If Holts had wanted to scratch out some wins, he probably could have, but as noted above, he was trying to establish a system.
I believe the '99 team would win. Injuries hurt that team, especially on the offensive line. But I think it had fewer glaring weaknesses overall than this team. I do believe that this year's team stacks up nicely at running back.
With Phil Petty yes, without Phil Petty no. Our QB play was hopeless once he got hurt against Mississippi State. Didn't come back that year until the last two games against Florida and Clemson.
Who's quarterbacking the 99 team? Phil Petty? Kyle Crabb? Carlos Rogers? Kevin Sides? Josh Rogers? Johnny Unitas Jr?
I think so. 2020 o line would be eaten alive by 1999 John Abraham.
