Open and honest discussion of HC Shane Beamer

Beamer will have to make tough decisions on the DC. Loggains O will be really good if we can get the OL play up to SEC caliber. Teasley may not be the man for that job. Our LB and pass rush is abysmal and it’s obvious White can’t scheme to cover up weaknesses

Beamer has certainly made some strong post-game comments concerning the defense over the past few weeks. If we run 5-7 or worse, that seems like the most logical next step.

Tealsey would be another. It would be nice if we could lure some OL talent with a directed NIL collective. Only a few schools are paying anyone but skill players right now. One wouldn't think it would cost much to get more talent in those key positions.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. NIL money needs to go into linemen. And then try our lucky with skill players that want to make the jump from a small school to a SEC school just to get exposure. People have said it over and over, and it still holds true. Games are won and lost in the trenches. An athletic QB can compensate somewhat, but the athleticism of some of the defensive players these days has negated a lot of that.

In fact, I could see all the money pushing college football to work more like pro baseball, with D2 being the farm league and teams only having room left for the top kids straight out of high school. May or may not happen but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.

Plus, if a kid transfers in, I think they have to stay for 2 years, unless that rule has changed. I might be wrong and it might have changed. But if that is still the case, you know you have them for 2 years.

Agree. I wish there was full transparency with the NIL collectives. Hard to understand why there's not actually. Eventually, the SEC/NCAA or some other governing body will probably step in and force their hand.

You can't have companies like Garnet Trust openly asking for money from the public without financial disclosure. It's still the wild west at the moment.

If you believe this, why do you give Beamer a pass for spending a large portion of his budget on a DE trying to play WR?

This is a surprisingly good idea, and it sounded familiar. So I looked it up.

Seems you agree with Watson on how we should spend our NIL.

If we paid Harbor a million or even half a million, we could have used that money to buy a line. Which would have helped the team more.

That's not the way it works. Harbor was a big name recruit with all of the top schools after him. Garnet Trust and other corporations decided they could market Harbor in different ways throughout the Columbia area because he had the hype at WR. In larger markets such as Austin and LA, this type of funding trickles down much further to non-skill positions. You're not going to find OL Jerseys in Columbia.

I'm sure these corporations don't waste time targeting a player unless USC is on their short list of schools. It would be interesting to see if a corporation is willing to do that if were in contention for a big time lineman. Even a 50-100K contract might swing things at that position.

Maybe they would be willing to take a loss for exposure? I'm not sure. Of the many issues with the NIL, one of the biggest are these bidding wars for top players while the others get nothing.

Yep. The big schools can financially compete in many of these bidding wars and stay high profile. Meanwhile, they can also target players who weren't the shiny new objects at a later date via the portal. Moneyball really made life more difficult for anyone but the blue bloods. It mirrors what's going on in the economy today. The separation of wealth has never been greater and it's rigged to get worse.

Hindsight is 20/20. Nobody expected the lines to be this bad.

Now, seeing how much we are struggling along the lines, I'm suggesting it as an overall strategy, not directing it at one player because I'm a butthurt Muschump fan and want to find any reason I can to bash Beamer.

In the end, it still won't make us Elite. Probably end up like Iowa.

I read somewhere that every player on Georgia's team got a NIL deal.

UGA has one of the best setups in the country. An endless supply of recruits and capital in the Atlanta market without having to deal with big city issues of being located there. Area players feel like they've moved away from home while their families can come watch the games in under an hour.

And let's not forget, you and the other house taters are the ones that believe NIL, or lack of, isn't an "excuse" and that we should be able to just coach around it with some mystery hotshot coach that nobody else knows about but only wants to come to South Carolina for low pay.

We need to not compare ourselves with UGA and worry about the middle of the pack teams. We won't get off the ground if we're worried how we stack up against UGA.

He's a "house tater", but you copied his idea on the NIL and linemen. Seems you COULD just say you agree with him this one time.

Other than that, typical straw man argument.

I still wonder if Muschamp was a plant from UGA to squash momentum. He ran UF into the ground after Urban Meyer and us into the ground after Spurrier. UGA was getting beat by both teams during those periods. There's no reason our defense should have been as bad as it was under Muschamp. He's the DC specialist.

Just being devils advocate but when Ray hired Muschamp he put the conditions on him like not being allowed to have the sideline explosions Muschamp was known for, basically “you’re hired but you can be you”; It was unfair from the start. Ray didnt like how non-baseball civilized Muschamps temper was, but, thats what many great DCs are like. And seeing Muschamps defenses at Georgia lately, he appears to be a great defensive coach just like he was at Texas and LSU.

This is bigger than Muschamp and Beamer, its Ray Tanner. USC gave him AD bc of euphoria over some baseball trophies, it was done during the glory years of Spurrier so no one saw any problems with football…..and now here we are.

Nobody "copied" taterwatson's "idea", because it wasn't an "idea". It was about one specific player that he has a boner for and likely hates because of the positive press Beamer got by getting him. It's wasn't a recruiting strategy. It was his normal "anything to bash Beamer" bullshit that the house taters obsess over.

But I get it. Taters stick together.

Yep. Easy to see why they displaced Bama. Clemson will probably be the biggest victim in this. That small town that protected them so they could "keep it tight" like their BB coach said won't be a benefit anymore. Big negative.

Found the guy who believes players weren’t paid until NIL. What you posted isn’t how it works. Carolina Rise and Garnet Trust are both in contact with Beamer on how he wants to pay players. They got specific guidance on which players to target (emmanwori) and which players not to target (Burch) during last years transfer portal.

Agree. NIL is rapidly catching up to Clemson. Their collapse is near and it’s frustrating bc this is when we need to capitalize on it. But we are stuck with a mess thanks to our ole
Baseball coach AD

But coaches are judged on how well they perform. You don’t give a coach a pass because he made a bad decision.

Beamer is the HC, he SHOULD have known how bad the OL was and made a plan to fix it.

The same way he doesn’t get credit for firing White after this year. A good coach would have known White needed to be fired before the season.

Everyone can be good in hindsight. The coaches who have FORESIGHT are the ones who deserve to be paid well.

No, I just don’t think there is enough NIL anywhere to make Beamer a competent HC.

I would rather not waste our budget on Beamer’s plan and save it for the next coach to win with.

Spending the money on O-line vs skill players is not about any specific player. It's a good idea. Don't be afraid to admit that.

It speaks volumes about you that you won't even admit when you agree with someone, and still have to turn it to insults.

Nutty taters.

That's just insanely stupid, especially the part about White. They are coaches, not clairvoyants. LOL

Even some of the best get surprised sometimes by how kids actually perform when they get in the spotlight.

This sound familiar?

"I told him he's going to have every opportunity to be the quarterback the entire year, you know barring injury or whatever. It would take an awful lot of bad plays, which I don't anticipate, to get him out there. He's the guy."

Know who said that? And who he said it about? LOL

SFTU tater. (I can only assume you mean STFU)

This is your response to your fellow posters actually agreeing with you. You both, and myself included, think that spending limited resources on linemen is a better avenue than skill position players.

And all you can say is "SFTU tater".

Like I said, it speaks VOLUMES about you as a person. So please continue the hysterical hissy fit. It really is all your good for on this board.

Boo hoo. Tater. You are just mad because you have been exposed.

And I bet 90% of your post on here are quoting me.

BECAUSE. YOU. ARE. A. TATER. TROLL.

Hilarious that you continue to try to play it off. lol

And you're new whine is about the quote function? You really are a special kind of retarded. If you ask nice, I'll tell you how to use the function. But you have to ask nice.

If you weren't a tater troll idiot, you would see I use it for others. Even just a few posts above. I just don't use it for you because nothing your tater ass posts is worth repeating.

Plus, I like to make your obsessed ass check back constantly instead of getting notified. And you NEVER disappoint. Because you are obsessed with me and everything I post for some reason.

Even talking about me on boards I don't post on anymore. Creepy and weird.

Typical tater troll. That loss last year must have broke your tater ass.

Lmao

Only a hysterical woman in the middle of a hissy fit would think that made sense. Proudly claiming to stalk people on other boards, and then calling THEM creepy??

Are you going to ask nicely now?

I see you've given up, and will just monotonously repeat the same lame whining. Your usual MO for having lost another argument. So I'll answer in kind.
