As we mentioned in our update yesterday, Zavion Hardy is going to have to take the long way to get to Columbia, SC. After expressing his desire to do that in a Twitter post yesterday, he signed with East Mississippi Community College this morning, as we anticipated in yesterday's update. This is where 2023 JUCO DT signee Elijah Davis took a pit stop and developed as well.

A New Harbor Tidbit 1/29

As I’ve been asking around different sites within the network what their insiders are saying, as well as keeping my ear to the ground on our connections within the program, I did want to mention one interesting tidbit I’ve picked up regarding some potential NIL connections at Oregon.

Harbor recently joined in a deal with Prospex, which seems to work with digital trading cards (NFTs) to allow fans for various schools to buy cards of recruits and put $$ in their pocket. It’s an NIL friendly way for fans to basically put in financial incentive towards recruits as far as I can tell. Here’s a good extended press release on the company.

Harbor tweeted about it in December:

Here’s a brief description from the Prospex Twitter page where they use Harbor’s as an example. It’s a young company but Harbor seems to be one of the early faces of the brand:

Now why does all of this matter? Prospex is a brand that was founded in Oregon, and has folks tied to Oregon and Nike. According to Scott Greene at Rivals’ Maryland site, Terrapin Sports Report, “once players sign with Prospex, these Oregon alums are using the relationships they are creating to push kids to Oregon with massive (sometimes six figure) NIL deals.”

This doesn’t mean that Harbor is necessarily going to just go to the highest bidder, and for what it’s worth, Michigan fans have bought the most cards for Harbor, but it does give a sense to how the infrastructure at Oregon could be advantageous in ways other than simply the University’s relationship with Nike.

As for the visit to Oregon itself, I have feelers out still waiting for those specifics and hope to hear later today or first thing tomorrow on that.

Wounded and doomed 49ers

The San Francisco quaterbach position took a beating yesterday with the third and forth string quarterbachs leaving the game due to injuries. I hated that San Francisco put Purdy back in the game after Johnson left game with concussion, but what are the 49ers to do with no other option.

Since Purdy could not really throw the ball, the 49ers tried trick plays in which Samuel with the ball was running for his life looking like an Antelope while the Eagles defense looked like lions chasing the Antelope.

I thought the officiating crew had the San Francisco defense under the microscope and called just about every little infraction that comes to mind. This hurt the 49ers badly and this is what doomed them.

I glad to see the Eagles back into the super bowl, but this game looks like it was given to the Eagles.
