The 6-foot-3, 227-pound freshman of Grayson in Loganville, Georgia already has offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Vanderbilt. And here is what he had to say about his offer from the Gamecocks and what he likes about the program:

“It’s the position coaches for me (defensive line coach Travian Robertson and defensive ends' and outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas). Lucas has coached at the highest level, and T-Rob has played at the highest level. Also, I love the vibe down there in 'Soda City,' the Gamecocks are like a 'big ole family.' It's a lot of love. Not to mention, the night game atmosphere is different for sure," he told me.

Watkins, a 6-foot-4, 201-pound safety from state powerhouse Northwestern High School who is athletic and has nice size for the position, talked about his experience in Columbia to watch South Carolina play Ole Miss.

“I enjoyed it. Before the game we heard a speech from Derrick Moore, and then we watched pregame warmups and talked to our position coaches,” he said.

He has offers from South Carolina and Wake Forest.

Who is ready for the Ole Miss game? What's your pick?

Being UK was able to beat them, we know they can be beat if a team is playing good against them. UK dominated the possession time. 39.72 to 20.28 and they had 8 more 1st downs. It was mostly a passing game. UK - 243 yards Ole miss - 261. UK was able to get 3 sacks but gave up 5 sacks. There were no interceptions, but Ole Mis had 1 fumble lost.

I just feel a lot better about our chances here at home after a bye week. Our team probably spent last week working on fixing things and will spend this week preparing for Ole Miss. I think we will come out big like we did against LSU but will not make the same mistakes in the 2nd half.

I know we got a great defense but Ole Miss will really test our secondary. Hopefully Kennard and Stewart will have a field day. And hopefully the Refs will call holding on Ole Miss when they have to do that to slow those 2 down.

Maybe Loggains will work both Sellers and Ashford back and forth and keep their D confused. I think it might be time for our offense to have a couple trick plays.

No matter, I feel this may be one of those "last team to score" type games and I feel we will do that. Gamecocks win 24-21.

2028 Rolesville, NC TE Henry Evans talks Shawn Elliott, South Carolina

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound high school freshman Henry Evans plays for North Carolina high school powerhouse Rolesville. The Rams boast several players, such as South Carolina 2026 edge target, 4-star Zavion Griffin-Haynes, who is currently committed to North Carolina. He spoke to Gamecock Scoop about his visit to Columbia for the Gamecocks' game vs. Ole Miss. Here is all he had to say about the program:

"My visit at South Carolina went great. Everyone was so welcoming and I could really tell that they stressed the family aspect there. From the time my family and I walked in, to the time we left it was such a great energetic atmosphere to be around. I got to talk to my position coach, Shawn Elliot who gave my family and I a warm welcome. The thing that I loved to see the most was how energetic their Tight End room is. I loved to see how much everyone rooted for each other in that position group and I think that all starts at the top with Coach Elliott. Overall it was a great day in South Carolina and I cannot wait to be back in the spring."
