Question for all you Columbia/Blythewood people...

As a Charlotte native with my cardiologist and P.C.D. both still pretty much in downtown Cola., I haven't seen either since 2019 (don't forget the 2020 stay-at-home fiasco). Just curious here, but has QT hit the Blythewood/N. Cola. area yet??

Just curious in all honesty. Word was that was/is their plan back in 2020, but it got put on hold. To the best of my knowledge, the most furthest south QT is at 77 and Hwy 9 @ the Chester exit.

Just curious if anyone knows otherwise.

Peace!!

Pac-12, Big Ten and ACC Alliance?

The Pac-12, Big Ten and ACC are engaging in high-level discussions about an alliance, sources tell The Athletic.

Talks have centered around not just a scheduling alliance in football but in broader cooperation, according to sources in the three conferences.

Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff, Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren and ACC commissioner Jim Phillips have been having conversations for several weeks.

Am I the only one who does not follow music AT ALL?

I know literally nothing about any current music. If you put a million bucks in front of me, I could not name 5 current songs and I’d be hard-pressed to come up with 5 current performers (is Beyoncé considered current?). My music knowledge doesn’t go past the 90s, and it’s spotty before then. I’ve just never been heavy into music and I’ve always been kind of mystified by those who are. A great friend of mine in grad school had thousands of songs on his computer. I was always amazed since I couldn’t name 1000 songs if you gave me 100 years.

Quick thoughts on the QB position moving forward…

No sugarcoating here. It was Luke Doty’s starting position for a reason and everything I’ve heard indicated that he was pretty far ahead.

As for what was the backup QB position - and now starting spot - my guess is you will see a full-on QB battle to earn the start for game one if the way the second spot has been handled is any indication.

It is my understanding that both Jason Brown and Colten Gauthier had been taking reps with the second team.

Both have shown flashes while both have been making that transition from high school/FCS ball.

I say all that to say, I wouldn’t just automatically assume that Brown starts because he is older.

Gauthier has had some really nice moments it’s just about whether you want to put all of that on a true freshman.

We will of course be tracking the movement at that position moving forward.

On a quick positive note, I’m told that Doty is in good spirits. He’s dealt with being out with an injury before and is ready to help in any way he can.

EDIT: Jason Brown did take the first of the first team reps today, so that isn't nothing.

Braves 🆚 Nationals 8/13/21 On The Road Again 😎

Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. What a fugly game we had yesterday. Muller pitched his way back to Gwinnett

The Braves recalled Jacob Webb to add a fresh arm to a depleted bullpen and the team is one the road again
Login to view embedded media This time facing the Nationals , then the Marlins and back to DC area to face the Orioles. Strange way to travel but Major League Baseball schedule is not a common sense approach. Plug and play schedules have teams shaking their heads and exhausting players from coast to coast. With 46 games remaining the Braves have not had a West coast excursion yet but has two such trip scheduled during that 46 game span. We can not make that a 37 game span because this road trip is already in progress.
Pregame Analysis
This will be a rematch of Saturdays duel as Charlie Morton will oppose Josiah Gray in game one. Josiah Gray was phenomenal as he had double digit Strikeouts against the Braves as he made an early adjustment after giving up a two run homer and started using his fierce slider which the Braves seem to have no recognition nor could they make contact. He tired after 6 but the Braves would score jo more and eventually the Nationals walked off Smith )So to speak because they were visiting) by scoring 3 runs in the top of the 9th to secure the comeback victory. OT has now been reported that Ryan Zimmerman stated that Smith was tipping his pitches. Makes sense as it appeared everyone knew what was coming and the balls definitely was going a long way.😎😎 he must be replaced as closer period. Gray is the prospect the Nationals received from the Dodgers and he is really impressive. The Braves will Counter with Morton who pitched a very nice game until he just completely lost the strike zone in the 6th inning and was subsequently pulled from the game after laboring unceremoniously in that inning after breezing through 5 innings unscathed. He just seems to have wonky innings every game out of the blue. Hopefully he can stay focused and dominate for 6-7 innings as the Braves will look to make a move this road trip and regain the top spot before the much ballyhooed Western Road Trips yet to come.

This is how it becomes more difficult than it should be . . .

with Ryan Hilinski being in Chicago instead of Columbia. But, not impossible, just more difficult. Doty is going to start on the road at either ECU or UGA best case scenario. If I am Doty, I'm not feeling 100% until Kentucky. Traveling from Greenville NC or Athens GA wearing a neck brace can't be a pleasant experience.

OT are things supposed to be easier now with computers

Make a long story short, my Dad passed away on January 21 . I never said anything about it on here. But it's been 6 months and my mother, my sister and I still havent gonna his name taking off of the power bill, the checking account, his old truck . We have to go to probate and we have to do this and we have to do that. You need to fill out this and send it to that. Why cant they just click a few buttons on the computer and take his name off everything? Isnt the internet supposed to make things easier on you? We got 10 copies of his death certificate and we thought that would be plenty. We have 1 left. I think things were easier back when everything was in a file cabinet. Anybody else have this kind of problem? And to top it all off Duke Energy wants $250 to take his name off the account. I dont think so. Sorry for the rant.

OT haiti earthquake mag. 7

please no politics.......this did not strike the same area as a similar earthquake 11 years ago
their president was just assassinated
not at much loss of life, but for the region it hit.......magnitude 7 is beyond me

Back 7 on Defense

Pretty worried about the back 7 on Defense going into this year.

I was there at UGA when we made Greyson Lambert look like Tom Brady, and that group had Skai Moore, BAW, Chris Lammons, Isaiah Johnson, TJ Gurley & DJ Smith.

I do love the way CSB has changed the vibe around the program, but ultimately it's about the Jimmies and Joe's.

My guess is that it will be a pretty lean year - 4 or 5 wins (5 would be a step in the right direction IMO, especially if the losses are more competitive), but I'll be there supportive all the way.

Of course anything is possible in this day and age of college football conference realignment.

But, I can't help but wonder if the ACC and BIG would try and poach some SEC teams, because (at least to my understanding) it doesn't cost anything to get out of the SEC. A team in the SEC could leave tomorrow without penalties. Maybe Mizz to the BIG, they might be a better fit there; us and Vandy to the ACC (but no way in heck do I want to see us leave) plus some other teams to other conferences.
