Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. This is the series we have been building towards all season long. We are being invaded by the Show Ponies and we Must Protect This House! Just like the Under Armor Commercial echoes for all to hear, We must protect the sanctuary of all that is good in baseball 😎😎. This is the battle for the last playoff spot in the National League. The Braves currently hold a 2.5 games lead as we begin a 3 game series against the second place Ponies. They will be determined and desperate to make a statement and we must be just as determined to shut them down. Yes I am calling for a censorship of sorts.😎 We don’t want to hear from the likes of the Braves Haters Club President or his minions. We don’t want to hear the chirping from @gamecockphil about Harper and the Boys. We are the defenders of the East and it is time to claim our crown.
Pregame Analysis
The Braves will throw Charlie Morton tonight in a battle of Aces. He is one of the 2 Aces on the Braves staff and when he is on the team always has a chance to win. He has an outstanding fastball and a knee bucking curveball that he can throw different speeds. He also has a scary back foot slider that he utilizes but sometimes overcooks and literally hits the back foot of batters. There will be a lot of emotions in this game as the crowd will be fired up, the teams fired up and mets hope the umpires are up to the task of calling a fair game. Morton has had 4 starts against the Phillies and has pitched well in two of them. The other two have been stinkers. Let’s hope for the deciding superlative to be he rose to the occasion and slays the Ponies.
The Phillies will throw Zack Wheeler (rhp). He has had a Cy Young worthy year this far as he has hurled 206 innings and has 240 k and 45 BB, 1.02 WHIP and a 2.79 ERA. He is the real deal and has 3 dominating performances against the Braves this season. The Braves did chase him early once so he is not invincible. He is a local product from Georgia and he will have a contingent rooting loudly for him and his adrenaline will be pumping in this intense moment.
