Charlotte Panthers leave Rock hill Hanging

Probably a blessing on Rock Hills part. First of all the Panthers are awful, Tepper is a prick, and there won’t be near enough return on investment on this practice facility. It won’t create jobs or much revenue for South Carolinians, although they’ll be footing a lot of the bill.

I'm glad our bid on a piece of the project didn't get used. Haha. My bid was 3 million for trenching for some utilities. That would be a lot of money tied up in lawsuits I imagine here shortly.

Too far gone Ben. These are negotiations that will get done. Two years of work has already been done. The building is up.

You may be right but it’s been proven time and time again that footing the bill for billionaires has been a bad investment for the taxpayer. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if it sat vacant for 40 years. There was nothing there before then anyway.

Construction has gone up roughly 17% since all of us submitted our proposals. So the contractors need another 150 million roughly to complete what was originally planned. It was an impressive set of plans. In the end there would be hotels, food places, etc all within the 240 acres.
They treated everything like it was top govt secrets. You weren't allowed to take pictures and post them, or discuss the project with outsiders, etc... It was a pain just getting involved with the bidding.

Lets Go Brandon!!

Now, you are just being a hater. Why would you hope a franchise based out of North Carolina move. What does that have to do with you or South Carolina for that matter. You are sounding like a misery loves company guy right now.
LOL, The Charlotte Panthers Benefit me IN NO WAY!! I could not care less if they even Dissolve the franchise, if you call that "A HATER", then i raise my hand.. Tepper wants Rock Hill to Pay everything, I dont watch the NFL and hate the fact that this POS Tepper is holding the city of Rock Hill hostage. He knows (AND KNEW) what he was going to do..

Yes, that would be devastating to the community- Rock Hill- to hundreds - even thousands of jobs in the area.

Plus, it's just stupid.

Ohhhhhhh,

well, if it doesn't benefit you personally, to hell with the other people that it does benefit- and the jobs it creates for the people in South Carolina and right over the border in North Carolina.

Your lack of logic and consistency is incredible. But it doesn't go unnoticed.

Tepper is a POS because he's "holding the city hostage" (as if every billionnaire in the world doesn't do the same stuff all the time)

But Trump (The "F&&K Your Feelings" guy), a man who built his business holding communities/towns, even one little old woman with a house he wanted knocked down to build a parking lot - is a messiah.

Your hypocrisy and inconsistency is amusing.

These folks are as inconsistent and hypocritical as it gets. But they are good for laughing at.

(D)eeDave, you sure have been mean lately. Is something bothering you that you'd like to talk about? Do you have a toothache, or is the tip of your nose sore from a recent cold?

I don’t necessarily want to see them
Move but I’m not a fan of the Panthers. Never have been and probably never will be. When they were camping at wofford I thought it was cool, but now they’re turning their backs on that. So, meh.

What about all the money that a city and county in South Carolina has already spent. Is that just supposed to go to waste. You guys are just talking and don't understand all the time and investment that has gone in to this thing already. The plans are for restaurants and shops to surround the area which will create jobs in South Carolina. Not to mention another South Carolina city, used to be Spartanburg, getting indirect tourist dollars by people stopping in to just see the team practice. This thing is right off of I-77 for anyone to see. This thing is too far down the tracks IMO and would be a disaster to fall apart now. So, I believe cooler heads will prevail and the things that need to get done will happen to get this over the finish line.

Looks like that may very well happen, Hell we need another Dollar General.. We will make it that.. it has already Screwed up my I77.... I dont pay City Taxes that is why i want York County to stay the hell out of the MIX!!

George Shinn 2.0.

George too had a massive planned development for the Ft. Mill site. The stadium and training g center was just a very small part of his overall plan. It would have extended back across the interstate 77 with hotels and golf courses , etc. I’m surprised Ft Mill fell for it again.

but I do have a question for Tav and the bid process. Uncertain pricing wasn’t a secret. Especially for a 2-4 year project. Someone had to account for this contingency . Were you allowed to price in the contingency price upfront in your initial bid or was it separated out? Just curious.

It's just part of hardball negotiations. Not that unusual. These big league projects are full of this type of thing. We just aren't too use to it around here so people here act like it's something odd or unusual.

That might happen- and of course, the pendulum will swing back the other way hard. Always does.

BTW- I am not a member of any political party. I find parties to be evil.

Your I-77? ....and how has it screwed it up. The interchanges have not gone in yet. I drive that area everyday. Nothing has changed. I bet you didn't want the 4 lanes that went up a few years ago either. Boy, some people want to remain in Mayberry forever. Another, Dollar General? Really?

So, you are complaining about a lane. I thought you liked the country life. It was two lanes before the expansion. So, you are complaining to just be complaining. You're acting like a wife when it is about that time. Nagging people to death just because.

Different "Mark" this time if you want to call it that. They came across the river into Rock Hill. It's right below the Mile Marker 82 interchanges.

OH MY bad, Sorry I am not allowed an Opinion, I do beg for your forgiveness!!

Got a feeling this is mostly Tepper thinking at this point that he has Rock Hill bent over a barrel. Of course, Tepper is a hard left Democrat who by nature begs for a handout at every turn. I almost wish Rock Hill would tell him to go pound sand and pay for it himself somewhere else. But he does have the leverage as their is hardly any other way to repurpose what is halfway built

Too many of you folks just make up crazy crap.

In 2015, Tepper donated to both U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer and then-U.S. House Speaker John Boehner.

In 2016, he donated over $1 million supporting Jeb Bush and John Kasich's presidential bids. Tepper supported Jeb Bush's presidential campaign.

In 2020, Tepper donated $200,000 to the Republican leaning American Unity Pac.

oh and he recently donated money to both Republicans and Democrats on Charlotte City Council.

Oh, and he and his wife donated $2 million through their foundation to the Charlotte Library system and over $1 million to 10 food banks in South Carolina (Including Harvest Hope) and North Carolina a few months ago. That's as good as evil from a few right wing extremists.

Yeah, he sounds like a raging "hard left Democrat" - whatever that means. LOL
