Cincy fires Brannen, ESPN says Frank is a candidate

He’s a good coach for sure, but Marshall did twice as much and started at literal zero. He built the program into the best job in the conference, and when Kelsey took over it was still the best job in the conference by wide margin. He kept it going where Peele failed, so he certainly gets credit for that. But people let their personal feeling about Marshall cloud their judgement about his accomplishments.
I never would have thought to say what I said had I not seen a quotation from one of the league's current coaches. I admittedly cannot look into his soul.

What gives me pause about the seriousness of those allegations is the large buyout. The allegations would give rise to a "for cause" firing which would negate the buyout. Something is weird about all that.
I agree with you - something doesn't seem right. Plus, how does a 6'1" 200 lb, 50 year old coach physically abuse a 6'8" 220 lb 20 year old. The only thing I read was he shoved a guy in practice. We all watched Frank Martin shove McCreary on the sidelines in a game.

I don’t think most would mind but it would be so unsurprising for Frank to drop us like a rock after after Ray just went to bat to keep him. We should have cleaned house on all those football assistants that were kept only to bolt at the first chance they got.
Ray did not go to bat to keep him. Don't believe everything that is said. The University was ready to move on. Got hijacked by politicians to keep him for one more year.

I don't know the terms of his buyout at Wichita but would Marshall lose part of it if he takes another job? 7.75 million is a lot of money.

Perhaps Wichita St felt that their program could not withstand the additional scrutiny that would come with a "For Cause" investigation?

Or, did Marshall make it known to WS that he would "Not Go Gentle into That Good Night"? That if he did not get paid that he would go scorched Earth to bury himself and Wichita St.

UC is a great job. I'm familiar with that area and the school's basketball history, which is pretty good, to put it mildly. Basketball is THE collegiate sport there. Between UC and Xavier, they are crazy for college basketball in Cincy, as opposed to college football. If Martin was to go to UC, he would not be playing 2nd fiddle to the football program, like here at South Carolina. Reading the article does not make me believe he is their top choice.

Imagine being a fan of a crappy basketball team and your school was about to hire FFF from South Carolina.

I thought he'd be our coach this year.

We never miss a chance to miss a chance.
Someone on here, in another post, made a similar comment that made me both laugh and cry because it is SO true; “we never miss a chance to step on a rake.” (Think cartoon character.)

Like David Cloninger said the other day: USC will find a way to screw things up.

Trust me they didn't get rid of a coach with his record and his buyout for a simple shove. The allegations were much more severe than that and it came from both former staff and players. The lack of a "for cause" firing likely has to do with the fact that the AD probably knew years ago when these incidents first occured but looked the other way due to the success of the program. Hence why a college athlete would likely be afraid to speak out or retaliate against his coach who assaulted him, because he was the most powerful man in town.

Cincy just hired UNC Greensboro's Wes Miller

Yep. Well doubt there ever was a chance they would have hired Frank anyway. The boosters would probably have demanded the ADs immediate firing. I guess all of the options that Frank supposedly was waiting on have not materialized. Maybe he can get the UNCG gig. Did Western Carolina hire anybody yet.
