LSU wasn't consistently recruiting top-five classes before Saban and Miles. I'm old enough to remember six consecutive losing seasons at LSU. And to remember when it was unimaginable for Texas to be bad at football.

Yeah, a capable head coach should be able to recruit at LSU. But not all hires turn out to be as capable as you think they'd be.
