Men's basketball is an ongoing train wreck

Men's basketball is the most frustrating sport in our AD, but there are others: baseball, men's soccer, maybe women's softball. Tennis is on the rise - that new Indoor Tennis Facility on Superior Street is going to be a BIG shot in the arm for tennis recruiting.

Still going crazy on why Frank still has a job at My Carolina. Really can't recruit, loud foul mouthed bully to his players. Beyond belief.

Maybe he has a shocking 'picture file' locked up and hidden in a remote place. There's just GOT to be something we haven't yet heard or seen. SOMETHING - other than proven performance - which it is NOT!!!

The young men on Carolina's basketball team got another extremely valuable, wonderful lesson in getting the hell beat out of you and taking it LIKE A MAN!
The biggest cheater in NCAA Basketball rolled into town and just laid us out, while the media and our coach told all how great he is and how wonderful his cheated up team is.
It was an excellent lesson for Franks boys. That is Coach Martins specialty. Having our team take ass kicking lessons to make them men.

Go back around a year and read about our funding request to the state legislature for the medical school. You will find your answer.

So how does a new coach fix it?
And I'm not being argumentative. I don't care for Coach Martin either.
But Dave Odom couldn't fix our bb program.

We will still play in a 20,000 seat coliseum.
We will still be a SEC team in ACC county.
Fans won't support the program till we win but how do we get the foundation to win?

Rule One: Do not let Fogler's firm to do our coaching search and pick him.

Both Martin and Odom were five seconds from getting fired at their previous gigs when we hired them.

Either way, it's time for a change.

If we could ever just get the best players in our state would help. That’s never going to happen no matter who our coach is. No way in hell we will get GG.

Dave Odom was the NIT specialist who was at the end of his career. He was never going to do much. Fogler came close but then dropped the ball on recruiting and didn't gel with the AD. The hires from there not impressive.

Fogler was before Odom but you are right in that McGee didn't like Fogler's statement that SC should only expect to make the NCAA tournament one out of four years.

McGee didn’t like it but quite frankly looking back Fogler wasn’t wrong. Or at least it’s held true for about 50 years. If anything Fogler might have been too generous with the time table.

When we have been really good, we have been able to build around some quality in state talent that chose to stay home like Thornwell, Dozier, McKie, Watson, Davis. Of course Davis started at UNC but chose to come home.

This state does yield some pretty good basketball talent for its size. The problem is South Carolina doesn’t CONSISTENTLY provide great basketball talent. You can point to some great players through the years, but not a lot of great talent every year. Because of that inconsistency we have to be able to recruit outside the state. Then when there is a phenomenal talent, it is difficult to keep him home for a variety of factors.

Stetson

It sucks to lose to a Stetson but it’s bigger than that. Practically every team has one of those a year. Maybe not your top 15, but everyone else loses a game to a school they shouldn’t. Basketball is like baseball in that regard.

Even our girls team went out to Missouri and laid an egg.

Beamer "seems" to have at least one answer. Jury is still out, but he qualified for a bowl, THEN WON THE DAMNED THING!!

Two ways to go. (1) you find a Bruce Pearle or Rick Barnes type of coach; (2) you go young with a Bob Richey type coach. I prefer the former if we can lure someone here.

Frank is a good floor coach. Not great, but good. But he is a terrible evaluator of talent. He gets attached to kids with whom he has a good relationship which blinds him to their talent level. He is unable to sell the program (Is there any wonder after 10 years of mediocrity?) to young high school guys who have real talent. He couldn't even sell the program after the FF. To me that is his biggest failure in recruiting.

To me it’s the one game summary of all the crap piled into one game. I believe they were 332 out of 335 & a terrible record to match.

At brief moments I am impressed by our post defense, our offense & turnovers just continue to crush my spirit while I try to get invested in this team.

it’s gone on so long King has run out of rhymes
