As many have already posted, former South Carolina commitment and four-star class of 2021 running back Lovasea Carroll posted an Instagram story from Columbia with the caption "I'm home baby" and two spurs up emojis.
Carroll has family in South Carolina, near Columbia, and that was a big reason for him picking the Gamecocks initially when he chose them before decommitting at the beginning of the season. It appears that Carroll is visiting the area for the Holidays.
Just to be clear, this is a recruiting dead period, so even if Carroll is in Columbia, he is, by NCAA rule, unable to meet with the coaching staff, though he'd of course be free to check out the city or campus himself all he wanted.
I touched base with someone close to Carroll and asked if the Gamecocks were back in it and got the generic answer of they are still considering all schools, but did find out that a junior day visit for once the dead period ends in January could be in the works.
There's a long way to go here, clearly, but it appears Carroll's recruitment is at least worth continuing to track.
