If you are watching this conference-- you can say what you want about Beamer but he is a Gamecock. He sounds like he watches games and roots for us even if he wasn't the coach. He is SC all day.

When I heard his kids were doing Sandstorm I say we will win a Championship!

Come on dude, he is a Hokie, not a problem but let’s live in the real world. Shane lived in Blacksburg for over 20 years, he has had a cup of coffee in SC.

He said in his presser that he has recorded games and the coaches show from Gamecocks football for ten years. Says he is familiar with the team he is taking over because he has watched every game this year as well.

I am not sure i buy that. It sounds good and in no way can be fact checked, but If he had the time to do that, it just tells you he wasn't as involved in the game prep. The amount of film these guys watch on the upcoming opponents is pretty heavy, i am surprised he would have had the time.

I’m going to take his word on it over yours. I do appreciate your input tho.

McCarthy told Jerry the same thing, admitted it wasn’t the case after he got the job. Typical coach speak.

I wasn't giving you my word, i was telling you that most coaches don't have time to watch games that are not related to their season unless they have free time on their hands.

Ok, again, your input is appreciated.

I thought it was refreshing to not just get a bunch of coach speech and talking around things without ever answering a question. The only thing I don’t recall him addressing was Rick Henry’s dig at Muschamp and the closed practices. He called it out but didn’t say if they would have open practices.

This may be naive, but is there any way that Beamer won't be successful? If you give him time, why not?
This will be the key. Those fans that will say "ATL or Bust in 5 years" need to just sit in the corner and pipe down while the grown-ups talk. We need to build a true culture of winning here, and know how to sustain it. We came close under SOS, but the foundation wasn't as strong as it needed to be. Hopefully under CSB the foundation will be MUCH better and will sustain long term winning. Mind you, I'm not talking about ATL every year, but certainly consistent 9-10 win seasons, with a trip to ATL thrown in every few years, and maybe, just maybe, a CFP appearance here and there.

For the love of all things Garnet and Black...some of y'all just need to crawl into a hole and never come out again, and certainly not when we start winning. Y'all the WORST!
I bet you were saying the same thing after the previous coach was hired.

Exactly. Beamer is young, intelligent, a good recruiter, and willing to learn and adapt. He doesn't seem like he will look around at other jobs, so I just can't see him being a failure if we allow him some time. If not him, then maybe there is a curse.

I was concerned if he were successful that he would go to VT eventually but who knows? Fuente isn’t gone yet, even though many turkey people are not happy with him at all. He probably will get a pass for 2020. As for Shane, they will annihilate him if he doesn’t turn out to be Frank, and they wanted Frank GONE after year 5 or 6, so I’m certain he realizes it can be a lose lose situation.

If I had to peg Beamer for anything I would peg him as a Hokie. He was only here at Carolina for 2 seasons? The best part of his career looks to be at VaTech. A job is a job and everyone he worked with 10 years ago is gone. Not saying he won’t be loyal or not do a great job. I really hope he is great, but if he doesn’t your not going to hear the end of it. If Beamer is a dud and the University retains Ray Tanner then for my own health and well being I am going to enter the transfer portal for fans!!!!!

I guess that tear rolling down his face while describing his last time here was he was homesick and wanted to go to Blacksburg. He might not win here but if he does he won’t be looking to leave. Chadwell is a very good coach but no matter where he goes if UT comes calling that’s where he will be. If he stays on top long enough. He might get the Vanderbilt gig then we will truly see if we made a mistake

If not him, no curse, just another bad hire by Ray. He could of hired a winning head coach, but he chose to go with this guy

He wasn’t my first choice but I will admit, after hearing him today, he’s starting to grow on me. I always planned to support him even though I had hoped for someone else but now I actually am starting to like him. He may be the long term solution for our program.

As a 15 yr transplant myself. allow me to share my perspective on Shane Beamer's obsession with South Carolina.
My brother and his wife have been here 20 yrs and he is what they call 'Eat up' with Gamecocks football. He's got Gamecocks fan items everywhere. He would have voted for Steve Spurrier for Governor.

I came here as a lifelong diehard Mountaineer fan and was even a web-based sports writer for several entities that were WVU centric fan sites. I have never stopped being a WVU fan. Upon arrival, my brother told me I had to choose between USC and their little brother Clemson. As if I had a choice. It did not take me four years to get hooked on the Gamecocks and now I am all in.

Comparatively, Shane Beamer was born in Charleston when his dad was an assistant at the Citadel but left when he was 2. Wherever you live growing up I believe you have a natural affinity for wherever you were born. As you guys know he came back and coached here for about 4 years, 3 of which could easily be described as the 'Glory Days' of Carolina football. Being an intimate part of that experience how could he not get hooked? Beating Clemson just to top off each season, I cannot imagine him not wanting to repeat that experience with himself in the role of Spurrier.

Then I saw the brief video of him recently walking on the football field and talking about his time here with his daughter at the stadium, He got so choked up he couldn't talk. None of us know what kind of success he will have here, but I cannot believe any other coach ever wanted the job so much. Other head coaches he has worked for say he has the ability and experience to be successful, show us.

Right now he has my total support because he is the Gamecocks' Head football coach. He is HCSB. My support however is not unconditional. USC fans love a winner and get a little nuts over being in the upper echelons of the SEC where we belong. But we will not tolerate a loser. Neither of those sentiments or mindsets is going to change.

Shane Beamer you were born one of us, be good to us and we will shower you with love. Otherwise, we will escort you to the border of your choice. It's our way and you know it.

I like him, although born n Charlie, he is a son of the Commonwealth........look at him like this, he operates like two roses, separated by a thorn.

It looks like Clemson doesn’t have a free forum and I think this is why. If you want talk about their teams and program you have to pay money monthly. Maybe if some of them watched the press conference today they would feel different about Coach Shane Beamer.

Fans change. I grew up within a few miles of Clemson. Brothers went there, Dad went there and I was a die hard fan until I went to grad school at USC. Stayed on campus during two of our basketball glory years and that experience changed me forever.
