Satterfield should resign.

Satterfield in 3 seasons as OC at Temple never averaged more than 400 yards per season. NEVER!!!! What the hell was Beamer thinking when he hired him? He is an unmitigated disaster.

Not really. Put in the 3rd string QB for every team we played and you would see the same thing. Maybe worse.

OCs typically get hired, they don't go around courting offers. They should be lucky enough to be asked to take over an obviously horrible offense to help a new head coach in need of a new direction.

Most are in current jobs, and won't leave that job if they think they will be fired in 1 year after taking over a wreck. All would expect more time.

What top OC would come here after seeing someone get canned after inheriting such a mess and never getting the chance to recruit their own players?

Nobody. They would wait for a better opportunity where they would get a fair shot.

jeez man fans that accept poor coaching are honestly what got this team into the situation it is now. Anyone with any intuition could see Satterfield wasnt the guy 6 weeks ago, along with Muschump when he was hired. You know who’s job it is to get the players executing… the coaches? And if it still isnt through your brain yet, the defense has managed to look completely opposite from last year with the same supposed lack of talent and a mass exodus, nobody is screaming about talent for them jack.

Just like another program up north, it will not be a "top" or "big name" coordinator....you are right, they won't come. It will be some young guy who has coached an innovative offense or an older coach who is rehabiliting his reputation with another big program.

Name a team out there that wouldn't be 6-6 or worse starting their 3rd string QB from a FCS Catholic school.

It’s more than that, this offense has been hard to watch the entire season. Each drive is painful. We have regressed completely running the ball. It would be one thing if we were just out physical every game but we’re not, it’s simple breakdowns over and over and over again since the beginning of the season. If you can’t see that idk what you’ve been watching my friend. I’m not saying we should be moving the ball up and down the field against anyone, but not looking competent at all offensively is not all on the players and I dont know how anyone could come to that conclusion. The job title is Offensive coordinator, your job is to get the players executing after 11 games, simple as that.

He was doing the gamecocks buddy hire. It’s required I think

No, it's not more than that. That is what happens when you get down to a 3rd string QB from a FCS Catholic school. At any school. With any OC. If you believe otherwise, you've been watching too many Disney movies.

We have consistently looked like we have no idea what we are doing on offense the entire season yet and you still think this is entirely on the players? It is one thing to be less talented but entirely another to not know where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing on a given play.

Tanner is NOT GETTING FIRED....PERIOD. He isn't the issue in selecting for or paying for a good OC.

I bet as long as he is A/D we don’t beat Clemson in football. And we won’t again until another 2 or 3 years after he is gone. Or have anything better then a 6 or 7 win season. He oversees our football program and it is his job to keep it from going off course- and it completely derailed when he took over years ago- and has been that way since.

What would you have done? Told Spurrier not to hire lazy recruiters and poor coaches to replace EJ and Lawing and not to put Junior as Recruiting Coordinator? Who would you have hired when Herman and Smart turned you down and Riley withdrew his name? Muschamp was a bad hire no doubt, but he definitely was not the first choice. There wasn't another near guarantee success out there at the time. So who was your brilliant choice for a sure fire success....Frost? Fuente?

Yep. Spurrier left early (so he claimed) so that we would have a jump start on the coaching hire. Didn't make a difference. The top coaches want a better opportunity than SC. Spurrier only took the job because he wanted a challenge and wanted back in the SEC East. Most coaches want a better setup to be successful.

It must be blamed on the players in order to defend against even a hint of a complaint against the staff. Some have drawn the line there.

I'd buy the 3rd string argument too, if the three that played weren't basically interchangeably bad.

Spurrier wanted to retire at least a year earlier, but Ray talked him into staying. He had had stopped thinking of the future of the program long before he left.

Not to mention the HC removed him from being the QB coach and assigned him to RBs while he was at Temple. Then when he was canned from Tenn Tech and went to Baylor it was as a TE coach.

I bet a Satterfield coached offense wouldn't even accumulate 300 yards in Madden.

I'd love to know who people think is actually going to come here if we fire Satterfield considering the circumstances.

Nobody currently drawing a paycheck would leave their current position to be fired too in a year if things didn't go well, which they likely won't in one year. Just like this year. Anybody would expect several years to turn things around.

What circumstances? The main issues from last season to this season were on defense and somehow those guys managed to find a way to improve the unit. On offense the primary losses were Smith (who was a one year wonder) and Hill and yet the team performance this year was worse.

The only circumstances that exist is that Satterfield managed to take a problem side of the ball and make it worse.

What about Todd Fitch? Been an OC for quite a few years and a QB coach for longer. Spent the past year at Ohio State as an offensive analyst under Kevin Wilson (OC) and Ryan Day. Wilson runs a "Leach-style" spread option with more run involved. Both Day and Wilson are innovative offensively and I have no doubt that Fitch learned under them. And Fitch is very familiar with SC.

It's easier to give someone time when they have a track record of success. It's much harder when they do not have a track record of success.

So explain the running game issue? QB play doesn't allow them to find an opening?

We get it. You think SC sucks and we should accept whatever we get. You've made that clear.

Some of us disagree.

Well Shane has hit the crossroads rather quickly with us. If he keeps Marcus, we will be looking for a completely new staff in 4 years. If Shane can get lucky and hire a great OC, Shane and crew will probably be here another 20years or so.
