First off the women advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament with a 3-0 over Ole Miss. Carolina seems to be playing some their best soccer at the right time. They have won their last three matches by a combined score of 11-1. USC will play Georgia at 7:30 pm on Thursday. Carolina beat Georgia 1-0 in Athens on September 22, in the schools only meeting this season.

The South Carolina men’s soccer team (5-7-4, 1-4-3 SBC) dropped its regular season finale 3-0 Tuesday night (Nov. 1) to No. 2 Kentucky (11-0-5, 5-0-3 SBC). Prior to the match the Gamecocks honors its five seniors, Brian Banahan, Logan Frost, Logan Hitzeman, Parker League, and Alex McDonald, along with team manager Ryan Wimmer.
The two teams will see each other again in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament, when the Gamecocks travel to the Wildcats November 6 for a 7 p.m. start.
In the match, UK out-shot Carolina 25-3. McDonald earned his first career start on Senior Night and tied a team season-high with seven saves.
The Gamecocks were unable to get their offensive attack going, as each of their three shot attempts were off target.
Kentucky opened the scoring in the 36th minute, putting home a rebound after McDonald stopped the initial shot. They would add goals in the 64th and 83rd minutes.
THOUGHTS: Overall Carolina was hoping to take a more of a step forward this season. I do believe that they were improved this season although the record is pretty similar. 5-7-4 this season and 5-9-2 last season. The Cocks are likely going to finish at 5-8-4 after their first round matchup with #2 Kentucky in the Sun Belt Tournament. This was only Tony Annan's second season in Columbia and he was improved the talent and has a quality class coming in. Annan is in a very similar position as Shane Beamer. Baby steps.
