What are great adjustments on her?Wow, Boston has disappeared in the 2nd half. Arkansas made great adjustments on her and we need to step up and put this game away.
Uknow what they say about an “ugly win” in the morning😊Turnovers are my undoing. We had 14 of our 19 total TOs after halftime. Went on a 15-0 run to break out to a 51-31 lead, then allowed Arkansas to respond with a 18-2 run of their own, before going on another 8-0 run ourselves.
Boston's 11th consecutive double-double - which adds one more to her program record of 10 straight double-doubles that broke the previous record of 9 consecutive double-doubles, set by Denise Nanney in 1975 and tied by Katrina Anderson in 1978, that stood for 44 years - and Destanni Henderson's 19 pts which tied Boston for the game lead, kept the Gamecocks in the front.
Victaria Saxton only scored 4 pts, but added 9 rebounds and 6 blocks, and Destiny Littleton was 2-5 from the 3-pt. line, scoring 6 pts along with 5 boards to help fill the offensive void left by Zia Cooke, who is still in a major offensive funk for the season.
Laeticia Amihere returned to action, but only scored 4 pts on 1-1 shooting, and 2-2 at the FT line. Kamilla Cardoso had a rare ineffective night, going scoreless with 1 rebound in 6 minutes of court time.
Another ugly win, but a win. I keep hoping the team will work itself out of the ugliness, but it keeps moving on. I hope the turnovers and scoring funks won't rise up when we least can afford it down the road....
I wish she would do this more often. We have the athleticism and bodies to wear teams out in multiple ways. I think this would be a great way to use the "2nd team" and it will give the opposition something to prepare for.Great move by Dawn to go to the press after the free throws
No cheating by looking it up! Last team to deny Boston a double/double?
The only team to deny her a double-double is the University of South Carolina. No cheating by looking it up! Last team to deny Boston a double/double?
🤣🤣🤣The only team to deny her a double-double is the University of South Carolina.
You are correct on all counts.Enjoyable game.
Henderson and Saxton always have great games against Arkansas.
45 rebounds but the 19 turnovers - at least their consistent. Thankfully their defense is always there to save them when the opponent gets back in.
Side note: Kentucky is beyond terrible this year. Michigan had an amazing game against Maryland - that was the best game of the day.
I don't know to be honest but I know it had to be before her perfect game. She started to hit her current stride after that game.No cheating by looking it up! Last team to deny Boston a double/double?
Correct. It was Elon, we won by 41 and she saw a lot of “bench time”. She had 12&4. The game prior to Elon was UCONN where she had 22&15I don't know to be honest but I know it had to be before her perfect game. She started to hit her current stride after that game.
This is the correct answer. What's separating Boston from more double doubles and other stats is Dawn. Unlike other programs she's not using her when it's not necessary to artificially inflate stats in garbage time. The only team to deny her a double-double is the University of South Carolina.
Seems crazy it was Elon of all schools, but the limited minutes make sense. I'm sure at other schools she would have played 30-35minutes and would have extended the run.It was Elon, we won by 41 and she saw a lot of “bench time”. She had 12&4. The game prior to Elon was UCONN where she had 22&15
Was it Elon?No cheating by looking it up! Last team to deny Boston a double/double?
Yep! A lot of their ranking has to with Howard. She's the projected #1 pick so they find a spot for her team on the list. But honestly, she has tapered off after her sophomore season. With seen all her tricks. You are correct on all counts.
Let me indulge in a little self congratulation, I have been saying since preseason that UK was wildly over rated. No true post player, no depth, no consistent second scorer. They drop off the WBB scene next year. Unless they pull it together they may miss the tourney
I thought about posting a gif of two Kentucky players watching Saxton (a 36% FT shooter) shoot a layup. I couldn't believe how they just stood there and watched. Mitchell was a jerk, but his team's competed, hard. I still remember our fans complaining about UK's rough play. You are correct on all counts.
