We will not accept a CBI bid...

Better read the last comment from the coach. It was NIT or nothing. I state again they had summer plus exhibition games + 33 games and if that's not enough practice, what is? They all need to practice shooting over and over again by themselves.

It's the fans fault that we can't get better players? Some of you are just ridiculous.

If Clemson fans were acting like this you'd be laughing your ass off at them.

Realistically, our goal was the NIT. It really sucks that we can't get an invite there but that's where we are as a program.

I'd be pissed as hell if we went to the CBI. In life, you need to feel the pain of failure every now and then. When your kids bring home C's on their report cards, do you take them out for pizza and ice cream?

The team has experienced enough failure. If you kid brings home bad grades, you make them study more. If your basketball team isn't playing good enough, you make them play more. It doesn't matter how much other practice they've had. They need to to keep practice. They aren't playing for glory or the honor of being in a post season tourney, they playing because they know they need to get better and keep working and they need more experience. It's NEVER enough.

Good decision not to play in a losers of losers tournament. Win games through the year and we wouldn't have to worry about it. This is not pee wee league or Tee ball.
Yeah. We all understand your line of thinking. Even though youre wrong, we get it.

Now try to see it in reality. One major thing you can do to get better and win more games, is to gain more experience in tournaments like the cbi. No matter what some fans want. Frank knew this was an avenue to get his team better.
Like I said, get opportunities by winning during the year, not some losers mentality tournament.
You have absolutely know idea what you are talking about. You they are trying to play for pride or to make you proud. That is absolutely ridiculous. This team does not have any reason to be too proud to in a tournament. THAT DOESN'T ACCEPT TEAMS WITH LOSING RECORDS.

Reading comp isn't your strong suit.

Whoever decided to go against the wishes of the coach and players is why fm will struggle to find better players.

You keep caring about clemson. The rest of us will keep caring about usc.

"Yes, a winning season makes everybody feel better," Martin said. "It's the whole body of work that goes into it. Our guys have been awesome. We're in a very good mental place right now as a basketball team. We were inexperienced, but we stayed the course. You have to study what we've done. We've just played the best schedule this school has had since 2003.

"I'm not worried about number of wins. If I base our improvement on number of wins, I'm doing a disservice to our players. Improvement is what we do every single day. It's our players getting better. Are we in a place where we strongly believe we can win the next game? My answer is yes. I couldn't say that a year ago. I definitely couldn't say that two years ago playing a bad schedule."

If USC doesn't make the NCAA or NIT Tournaments, are the third-tier CBI or CIT Tourneys a possibility? Probably. Martin said he has spoken briefly with AD Ray Tanner and chief operating officer Kevin O'Connell about a tournament. The issue will be discussed again when the SEC Tournament is over. Martin hinted it could be up to the players if they want to keep going.

Hey Dirty,

Son, I'm more Gamecock than you'll ever be. I'll get a kick out of showing your post to some of my Clemson friends though. They'll laugh.

Strike a nerve? Hahaha. 'Son'. Hahaha

Im backing what our(us gamecock fans)coach wanted. And provided quotes. Be sure to show them your post about kids with bad grades... Have a feeling it wont go as you plan, KID.

This is the last quote I was referring to and I think that should settle it.

South Carolina head coach Frank Martin on missing out on the NIT: "I'm
of the opinion a school like USC shouldn't pay to play in the CBI. Maybe
I'm in the minority. I do feel bad for Tyrone Johnson as I'm sure he
wants to extend his career, but I think the NIT is as far as South
Carolina should fall before declining. I know Michigan, Tennessee,
Minnesota and Northwestern all said they would decline bids. I'm sure
there were more."

Told you 3 days ago when this post started and you posted above .....that you're " polling numbers" were going to be way off.... you're entitled to your opinion, but as I predicted you are in a small group of posters that want SC to play in the CBI
Who gives a rat's behind what percentage of the fans want them to play in the CBI or not? This is not about what the fans want, it's about what the team needs.

No Dirty, you didn't strike a nerve. I pray that we don't have more fans like you. There's already been a pussification of America, I'd hate to see it happen at Carolina. If our fans start crying and bitching to pay to play in 3rd rate basketball tournaments like you have, it's only a matter of time.

This team needs to sit home and ponder on their poor play and terrible season. They play in the SEC and only managed to get 1 game over .500. The SEC other than UK and Florida has been terrible the last few years and our team is a bottom feeder.

Good grief what an epic fail. A whole thread's worth full of your BS, only to end up with spooj on your face. That's gotta suck. And then you ask for a link? LOL. I bet he made it all up!

It was a quote provided by John Whittle. He's a competitior to this site, so I won't link to it. However, you can go to Frank Martin's Twitter account, where FM says the team "didn't win enough." Hopefully that's enough to put an end to this. Time to move on.
