Well, our Poor

Hunter was a criminal. The gun prosecution was probably something that most people are never prosecuted for in terms of jail time- or at all- but he was a criminal for sure.

The gun charge itself is under legal threat. A federal appeals court ruled in June 2024 that the federal government cannot ban those convicted of nonviolent crimes (even felonies) from possessing a weapon, and a conservative federal court in Texas recently ruled — that the ban on drug users possessing weapons violates the Second Amendment.

So, at least one conservative court has said drug users can possess weapons.

The felony tax charges are crimes- no doubt about it. ( Now, Trump, in his first term, had a habit of pardoning tax cheats and those that commit financial crimes- including his son in law's dad who Trump has now appointed to a position).

So Trump's consistency is non-existent. But, Hunter is a felon.

Violent rioters who committed violence on January 6th were not political prisoners. That's a lie.

Something like 30% of them were sentenced and their trials overseen by Republican appointed judges including a number of Trump appointees.

Trump son in law's dad was convicted, went to jail, served his time, and got a pardon years later. That is COMPLETELY different from Hunter serving ZERO consequences and other Biden cronies pardoned for anything they have ever done without even going to court. Complete get out of jail free card.

And I find it hilarious that liberals are suddenly fighting for gun rights. But just for Hunter. Not everyone else. Typical.

I agree 100%. The stock market has never mattered to me. We’ve had great prices over my lifetime UNTIL the last 3 years and the wheels came off. Luckily It didn’t really effect me or you (both own homes, debt free, etc) but for the younger people not so much. The housing, grocery, gas, car and insurance costing regular young families $1200-1800 more a month. That’s ridiculous and not unsustainable. That’s gotta be fixed
Well, in 2023 it was 3.4%. In 2024 the inflation rate was in the 2-3% range. To me that is reasonable. I agree, as I said earlier, not in 2021 nor 2022....(9% and 6.5% respectively). From 1965- 1981, prices were not so great. I remember because I lived through those years. Hopefully, Trump can carry on what OVERALL prices did in 2023-24. Some sectors of the economy do need prices to come down further. I just hope they don't plug one hole only to creat a problem elsewhere.

Plus on 1.8m Im not sure your cut matches theirs. Id be puking sending that in. Id rather donate the entire amount to tunnel to towers or habitat. Anything to ensure it’s legit helping
I donate to 10 charities a year in addition to church. So, I try to give back.

One of those charities is an organization of local churches that helps the poor, the elderly with food, utilities and medical
assistance, transportation, etc. For many years, I also helped that charity by delivering food to the elderly needy. But, it got to a point where the weight of the bags was giving my lower back problems. I am and have been on a neuromed for that pain. So, I stopped doing that about 15 years or so ago. For that reason, plus being chased by some vicious dogs convinced me to give it up.:D But coincidentally last week I contacted that charity and mentioned to them if they have a need I can help them with that would not hurt my back, I'd be glad to help them. So they contacted me yesterday about coming to an orientation/training class on Thursday to see what's available. I will be there Thursday at 10:00 and looking forward to it.

What motivated me was watching a Netflix streaming TV series "A Man On The Inside", a drama/comedy starring Ted Danson of "Cheers" fame (which may be before your time). It was about a retired college professor (Danson) who lost his wife and was going aimlessly through life. His daughter challenged him to find something meaningful to do. He accepted the challenge and was hired by a private detective agency to go undercover at a retirement community to investigate who stole an expensive ruby necklace from one of the residents. It was a great streaming show that has been picked up for a 2nd season. I highly recommend it if you have Netflix. I listened to an interview that Danson gave about the series. And he said he really found doing that series very important because it gave the message that older people (Danson is 76 or 77 years old) can still contribute something back for the good of society even at an old age. Danson said he intends to continue giving physically for the betterment of society as long as he could. That made me think. Then coincidentally, I heard a sermon a couple of Sundays ago where the minister preached that God expects more than just a donation of money from us. He expects us to give our time as well. So, I'm going Thursday morning to see what needs they have that I can help in.

This is what really breaks my heart. You clearly see how the average person is struggling. How do you come to the conclusion that giving Billionaires more money is going to fix those problems?

Execellent! Helping others is a very rewarding act especially if you’re personally involved. No better feeling and much needed across mankind. I loved cheers, haven’t watched it in a long time. It’s probably time to rewatch it. Just finished up All in the Family. One of my all time favorites but You'd figure that right. Carol O’Connor such a great actor plus I had a crush on “young” Sally Struthers. Lol

A not as young Sally Struthers is also in "A Man On The Inside". Again I recommend that to all. It comes in 8 shows, about 30 minutes each. You can see it all in one afternoon in about a 4 hour sitting, which is what I did.

Its got nothing to do with giving Billionaires anything. I just want to quit giving government Trillions. I want government pared down and the theft to stop. Eliminate the majority of government. Its not wanted or needed. 80% of government is a scam. Shut it down and get outta my pocket. I really would like to see a external revenue service fund our small new government and eliminate the Irs over the next 10 years. Dream big for big changes. And truthfully there should be no taxes on the first 50k for individuals. That would be a great start for incentivizing people to work. Be self sufficient and off the government teat

I'm genuinely curious how downsizing the government cutting roads, schools, social security, medicare and increasing poverty in the country is going to make your life better and the other young people who can barely afford to live now?

I don’t have Netflix. Had to dump em years ago with all the woke thinking. Lately Ive enjoyed everything Taylor Sheridan. Landman, Yellowstone etc…….Just finished rewatching Dexter and I love king of queens, mike and Molly, last man standing, That 70’s Show for sitcoms. Never gets old. Especially since they don’t make sitcoms anymore

Read up on the depression. Better people, stronger people, simpler people. The extreme excess in America is ridiculous and is not sustainable. Government is the reason. Thats where the beast was born and thrives. Unchecked power breeds greed and evil. Always has always will. Nothing good comes from being owned like a pet. You have to support and take care of yourself. End of discussion

That's how f'ed up you are. You think that the government not taking even more of people's money than they already do is them "giving them more money".

The rich already pay almost all the taxes. Rich people aren't your mommy and daddy. The government isn't your mommy and daddy. In fact, government spending is the main reason people are struggling. No one in their right mind would give them more money to do even more damage. Idiotic.

I got it, I think less than a year ago. I'm glad I did because there's just not a whole lot on regular TV. I grew up, before there was cable, when the only thing on was CBS, NBC ABC and public television. It seems to me that there were more good options back then. Crazy, I know. By the way, Netflix has a lot of good documentaries. One of them on Donald Trump, which will shock you to know I opt not to watch that. And yesterday, I avoided the inauguration but instead watched the 4 hour series, "The Perfect Couple", starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber and Bono's daughter. I know that shocks you, as well. :D

Are you honestly arguing that we should go back and live in abject poverty without running water and bathrooms?

This really just sums up that you're not arguing in good faith.

Yet they had $500 BILLION to pay off student loans for people making up to $250K. And they also have no problem coming up with the $150 BILLION they spend on illegals EVERY YEAR. They even had $800 BILLION for green energy bullshit and called it "inflation reduction" to fool the idiots. $7500 for everyone that bought an EV.

The government doesn't need more money. They need to spend the money we give them correctly.

It's not just tax policy that creates wealth disparity.

If it's not the government responsibility to care for people? Why do you care about inflation? The weak die and the strong survive.

your right. Gunsmoke, MASH, Brady Bunch. Archie Bunker and the jeffersons. Mutual of omahas Wild Kingdom. Wide world of Disney, Shock Theater on Saturdays with the blob, the birds. Good Hitchcock stuff. And it signed off every night with the star spangled banner. Network tv had much better stuff than the thousand channels today for sure.

Omg We’re never going back to that. Hell I can dig a well myself, we’re good. No more government help needed. Plenty of jobs out there after we get rid of 30 million illegals. We can’t take care of the world but we can take care of Americans by not sacrificing them to the woke alter. FDR screwed everything up and here we are. The pets were born outta this

Inflation is a perfect example of why we shouldn't give the government more money. They take it and spend it foolishly, creating inflation and hurting the citizens you claim they "care" for. And then want more because they don't have the money to do the things people gave them money to do. Criminal.

Watson - Your male AOC gibberish concerning billionaires is bottom of the barrel.

You could combine the wealth of all billionaires in the US and it probably wouldn't pay for our debt service for even a year.

Most of them pay a ton of taxes too.

Do you want to tax them out of this country and have them setup shop somewhere else and lose that tax revenue?

Many billionaires also employ a bunch of people who also pay taxes and that would go as well.

Biden spent more money than any other President over a similar time frame and you haven't said a word.

That's what causes inflation and crushes everyday Americans.

Please start learning a little more before you troll....it's getting very uncomfortable.

The topic is government assistance. Not eliminating government teach. Quit trying to sidestep and circle back. Lol

The basic purpose of government is for the general welfare of its people.

You cut off government assistance and you increase your homeless and desperate population, it’s not going to be a country you want to live in.

Wrong. You create unity. Neighbors step up and help, just like in black mountain, Ashville, LA, Hawaii. Volunteers across the nation come together to teach people how to stand on their own two feet. America is Great because of its Citizens. We’ve been destroyed and turned against one another BECAUSE of our government.

The government wouldn't exist if this was true. Every time the government gets involved in something it's because it failed to work on its own.

Wow. You really believe the government is superior to Americans. Ok this was a wasted conversation.

Why is your rush to spend less instead of spending better?

Because that is what you usually do when someone spends the money you give them foolishly.

Like I said, they have plenty of money for illegals. Plenty of money for their green energy friends. Plenty of money to pay off student loans for people that clearly could pay them off themselves.

If you've got money for those things, then don't come back to me for more money to do the things you are actually supposed to be doing.

The government has grown because tens of millions of Americans want and expect services from the government and are comfortbale with it- and benefit from it.

That's not just poor people. The people that benefit the most from government are upper class income earners, large farmers, businesses and corporations. That's why when Trump increased tariffs in his first term, he sent paid farmers tens of millions of dollars to make up for the lost revenue from exports due to higher tariffs.

Trump won't downsize government either. He might shift some things around, but the government is the size it is because hundreds of reps hear from the people they represent and expect certain things.

That's fantasy.

Neighbors and volunteers only help for so long- and can only help so much. Right now, there are tent cities in Western North Carolina and that's good for those people for a short period of time. But people aren't going to donate thousands of homes for them. They are going to have to do that themselves.

and millions of individuals are incapable of helping themselves due to disabilities of various kinds. So the government provides.

The government is Americans. Who do you think works for the government?

In every disaster, government aid will be as beneficial as private aid in most every case-- LONG-LONG after volunteers and churches have moved on to other issues.

It took 15 years and over $4.5 billion dollars after Katrina for the levee systems to be rebuilt and redesigned. The local baptist church and volunteers weren't doing that work.

Local churches and volunteers aren't going to spend $20-$30-$50million dollars to rebuild water systems, to rebuild interstates and highways, to send cities like Asheville $90 million dollars to repair flooded areas of the city.

That said, politicians of all types politicize everything. It's not good. But they are elected by the people and that is clearly what people want.

Trump will succeed in my opinion but his success is not tied to the stock market for me. Closing the border, breaking the back of all criminals, deporting or eliminating them, reducing government, cutting red tape and regulations and Im happy. With that being said I fully expect a recession and inflation to continue above 2%. With the fed continuing to forecast rate cuts after 2.9% reported last month we have no chance to avoid a recession imo. It’ll all shake out one way or another. Either way Im happy if he fixes whats been purposely broken. Safety inside our borders must be restored.

Pisses me off having to carry everywhere I go these days.

Where they hell do you hang out? Maybe you should adjust your hang out locations a bit.

I have guns. However,

I know a few men that carry everywhere they go. They are seemingly scared to death.

I realize anything can happen but in well over 50 years, I've never come close to ever needing a gun even once.

Like I said I would never invest in the stock market but if I did Id sell immediately after a huge profit. I know that. Im sure it was sold off after that record breaking surge. Common sense to take the money and run. I bet its not below where it opened though right? Even though its just a picture or something like that. What a crazy thing to buy. I can’t comprehend it but luckily don’t need to.

It's a good thing you aren't in the stock market. LOL

Selling immediately after a huge profit could be smart- but could also be a really bad move and certainly is no strategy.

The value of my non retirement investments increased by over $260,000 last year. I didn't sell, I continued to buy as much as the % of my investment money would allow. But I've done extremely well in the market over the last 35 years and plan to continue.

Guys, we won't know for sure how Trump will do. He obviously has to produce. Everybody has an idea in their mind what will make Trump a success or failure. In my view, most people vote their pocketbooks or wallets, first and foremost PERIOD!!!!! It takes money to live. We all need to eat. We are not in a recession. In fact, I was on some errands yesterday and a couple of manufacturing plants with huge billboards near the highway were advertising for workers offering $18-20/hour. Jobs are booming or at worst steadily growing. We don't want to go into a recession. If we do, that's trouble. And inflation is about at the 2-3% range. You don't want to see inflation go to 9% it was in Biden's first year or 6.5% it was in his second. I'd say that as long as inflation does not exceed 5%, we are fine. Others may disagree on that 5% figure. Not sure. For me, as long as the market increases, I will be pleased. It increased all during Obama's, Trump's and Biden's years. If the market is not increasing during Trump's term, then I will be pissed. I have said this before and I will say it again: I'm pulling strongly for Trump to succeed. You have to be insane to want him to fail. I'm not into cutting my nose to spite my face.

As many people and reports have said, the great majority of people say their personal situation is pretty good, but then they talk about how terrible things are

Most are repeating things they've heard from politicians, not things they've experienced

It's like the folks that say they hate congress and want everyone to "vote the bums out" and then when they are asked who they will be voting for, they say they like their own member of congress and plan to support them again.

That along with safe streets and eliminating sick sexual perversions in schools around their children are FAR more important than stock markets. Just sayin.

The streets where I am are quite safe. Of course, I'm not out at 2am and I don't hang out with people that do drugs or own money for drugs.

Remember the riots of 2020? Donald Trump was the president then.

"sick sexual perversions in schools"

I have no idea what this even means. I have a 17 year old high schoolers. Not aware of all this sexual perversion at the school outside of the typical stuff.

There have been sick sexual perverts in schools for decades. When I was in middle schools, some kids would pass around copies of Cherry and Hustler.
