I spent 38 years of my life in South Carolina. I grew up in Columbia, went to USC my freshman year, and finished at Francis Marion. I spent most of those 38 years in either Columbia, Florence, and Rock Vegas! I now find myself far away from the great state of South Carolina after having moved to Boston two years ago. Needless to say, I was very disappointed at the lack of interest in college sports specifically football in the city. Quite frankly I can’t blame them considering they have the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. But I was still amazed at how little people care about college football in particular. Boston College is the best they’ve got here, And why would anybody be a BC fan unless that were a grad. This is not meant to be a knock on Boston College, but let’s be honest, they don’t exactly have much of a resume when it comes to competitive sports.
I said all of that to tell you this! I found a bar in Downtown Boston that gives all of us displaced Gamecocks a little taste of home each week. I wanted to give a shout out To JJ Foley’s for hosting a bunch of gamecock fans every weekend. I will be watching the Gamecocks hopefully beat the snot out of the Tigers tomorrow night in downtown Boston.
If you are stuck outside of Gamecock country...where will you be watching!
