Five members of the University of South Carolina football team have been recognized for their outstanding play during the 2022 football season by ProFootballFocus (PFF).

Defensive back Nick Emmanwori was named to PFF’s True Freshman All-America team. The 6-4, 218-pounder from Irmo, S.C., leads the Gamecocks in tackles with 78. He is tied for 16th in the SEC with 6.5 tackles per game while tying for the league-lead with 59 solo tackles, the top mark among true freshmen in the country.

Wide receiver Antwane “Juice” Wells, Jr. was named to the first-team All-SEC unit by PFF. The 6-1, 207-pound junior from Richmond, Va., leads the Gamecocks with 63 receptions for 898 yards and six touchdowns. He ranks second in the SEC in receiving yards per game at 74.8 and is third in receptions per game at 5.25. He also has cracked the school’s all-time single-season list in both receptions and receiving yards, ranking 10th in both categories.

Punter Kai Kroeger was named to the second-team All-SEC squad by PFF. A semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, the 6-4, 207-pound junior from Lake Forest, Ill., has averaged 46.8-yards per punt, tops in the SEC, second in the country and the second-best mark in school history. Of his 52 punts, 17 traveled 50 or more yards, including a long of 79, the third-longest in FBS in 2022. Twenty-seven of his punts (52 percent) were spotted inside the 20-yard line.

Tight end Jaheim Bell and defensive lineman Tonka Hemingway were selected to PFF’s All-SEC third team. Bell, a 6-3, 232-pound junior from Lake City, Fla., was a do-it-all-performer for the Gamecocks in 2022. He caught 25 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 73 times for 261 yards and three scores. Hemingway, a 6-3, 295-pound junior from Conway, S.C., recorded 29 tackles in 12 games, including 7.0 tackles for loss and a team-high 4.0 sacks. He also recovered a pair of fumbles and logged four quarterback hurries.

The Gamecocks finished the 2022 regular season with an 8-4 record overall, including a 4-4 mark in SEC play. They are ranked 19th in the College Football Playoff Rankings and 20th in both the Associated Press and AFCA Coaches poll. They await their bowl destination and opponent, which will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 4.

South Carolina will be in the D.C area for the next few games. Not sure if Carter will play this evening and it is doubtful that Johnson will play (not sure if he traveled with team).

We didn't get Garrett Riley or Kendal Briles? I would love to have Garrett Riley on staff and lock him up, look at SMU's numbers! Could you imagine his offense with a Clayton White's defense? 9th in total offense, 16th in the country at passing offense, 9th in completion percentage, 37th in rushing offense, Tied for 3rd in first downs, .449% on 3rd down conversions (we're .369%), THEIR O-LINE HAS ONLY ALLOWED 1 SACK! Top in the country! They have only lost 3 fumbles, while we have lost 7.

There were a few things I saw that I didn't like from SMU is Red Zone offense, they are .769%, while we are .833%. They also have 7 total INT's thrown to our 3. I can deal with turnovers if we are actually scoring. We aren't scoring.

Looking at the numbers, both teams have the same amount of turnovers, SMU has 1 minutes less on average of time of possession but they are averaging 40.7 ppg to our 22.0 ppg. Their T.O.P. average is so low because they score so quick, ours is low because we can't move the ball.

Theo Wease (OU WR) is said to be headed to the portal. Rumor is SC is a possible destination, Rattler and HC and all. There were portal rumors last year that didn't happen. OU's offensive collapse is a factor.

Any injury update? Hate losing him and hopefully not a severe injury.

is just what we experienced(esp Tennessee) on Saturday. We watched a couple of times when the offense was clicking on all cylinders i.e Vandy, Charlotte and even a degree of TAM; IT CAN BE SPECIAL. It's all crickets now. My grippe with him(Satterfield) was the lack of utilizing the star players,sort of the girl that got to the dance with --J.Bells, D .Joyner and a reutilization of JuJu . But it also took the wide outs to catch the ball ,and Spencer to properly deliver it accurately on time. We all must remember that it is only year 2 and how many programs can say we have got the right man at Head ball coach!!!!!!!!!! So my message is let the guys do their job. I surely would like to beat Clemson but I still think 7-5 is going in the right direction. So the danger of running off Satterfield is he becomes dynamic some where's else and we will be kicking ourselves in the @#$$. lol
