Upcoming season expectations and schedule

What are our expectations for the following season? For me, I am not as concerned about wins and losses. As any first year team I just want to see what things look like and all the new players, scheme, coaches and really just get the vibe of where we are now that the old staff is gone and so where things are. I have read several folks on here with very high expectations of 7 or even 8 wins and just can't understand the logic behind that. I guess it's just a familiarity with USC and a lack of understanding of the other teams we are playing. As a fan I just want to see a change of direction, stop shooting ourselves in the foot and see progress. A 4 or 5 win season should be considered a good season and progress from where we were and considering what we lost.

Eastern Illinois Win

East Carolina Win - Just dumb to schedule an away game against a team like this. Don't get it. Might be tough as they have an experienced QB with our unproven secondary but our D Line should overwhelm their undersized O Line and Harris and Lloyd should have a big day.

Georgia Loss - Will be a hard day for our team and the Beamer's between the Hedges.

Kentucky Loss - Sorry, they are just better than us right now but we always have a punchers chance at home.

Troy Win - Might hang around long enough to be annoying but won't be able to hang long enough.

Tennessee Toss up - In Knoxville will give them a slight edge.

Vanderbilt Win - Vandy is just not good.

Texas A&M Loss - We have a ways to go before we can get up to the talent they have right now. At College Station won't help.

Florida Loss - They are just better.

Missouri Loss - This is one that we could pull out but it's going to be tough on the road.

Auburn Loss - Would like to stick it to Bobo but not this time.

Clemson Loss - No comment.

I think we will pull out either Tenn or Mizzu and end up with 5 wins just missing a bowl. Although our schedule isn't horrible our in conference home schedule is full of teams that are just better then us and our away games are against a few teams that we might have a shot with if we were playing them at home. It wouldn't be insane to pull out 6 wins if Doty and the receivers can find a way to have some kind of threat passing the ball and our new secondary blows away expectations.

Texas and OU release joint statement (first official acknowledgement of anything)

Joint Statement from The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Oklahoma

Two color orange horizontal divider

The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Oklahoma notified the Big 12 Athletic Conference today that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in 2025. Providing notice to the Big 12 at this point is important in advance of the expiration of the conference’s current media rights agreement. The universities intend to honor their existing grant of rights agreements. However, both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future.

Add Clemson and FSU

With the potential of Texas and Oklahoma becoming SEC members, I would like to see Clemson and FSU as new members also giving the SEC 18 members divided into 9 team divisions. Then with the playoff expansion multiple SEC teams would make the playoffs every year.
Other revised conferences would not come near matching the power and strength of the SEC, which would mean more money for all members.
Regardless of how it “shakes out” a whole new world of college football is about to be developed.

OT: Electric golf push carts

I'm 67 and walk 18-27 holes every week, but my back is giving out from pushing a cart for 5 hours. I don't want to ride because I like the exercise, but I'm sore the next day. So I've been looking at electric 3 wheel push carts with a remote. The problem is they are very expensive and the low end ones for $1,000 or so, like Bat-Caddy, are not reliable. You have to spend close to $2,000 for one which gets good reviews.

This company out in Oregon has come up with a device for $800 that converts an existing 3 wheel cart into an electric cart. You can do it with most any brand cart from Clic Gear to Sun Mountain to Cart Trek. The drive mechanism is the same but they make mounting brackets for each brand. I ordered one for my Clic Gear 3.5, and it came yesterday. It was shipped free by FedEx. I watched it come all the way across the country from Oregon, to Utah, to Denver, to KC, to Kentucky then Atlanta and Columbia. Took about a week to get here. What impressed me was how it was packed. Whoever did this took a lot of care and pride in their work. Not only was it carefully packed, it was done in a way that unpacking was easy.

It took me about an hour to unpack it, remove the wheels from my cart and install the new brackets. There's an online video about how to install it which I had watched a couple of times so that made it simple. To keep it from tipping, the axle is wider and it comes with two detachable wheels on the back. The battery is integrated into a water tight compartment in the drive rather than in a bag which sits above the wheels. The battery is still removeable and replaceable. Really ingenious device.

I charged the battery last night and will take it for a test spin today. I feel like I need to get a feel for it by driving it around my yard before I play a round this weekend.

Braves 🆚 Phillies 8/22/21 “Who Runs The East” Road Trip? 😎😎

Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. Big road trip starts tonight as the Braves visit the Phillies and then the Mets in successive series on the road as they try to make up ground and determine the franchise’s immediate future plans. Trailing the Mets by 4.5 games and the Phillies by 1 in the division standings, the Braves have an opportunity to put themselves in a more favorable situation as the trade deadline approaches. The next 9 games they can either make hay or egg lay. 😎. The journey starts tonight as the Braves will start their ace Charlie Morton against veteran Phillies lefty Matt Moore..

This is a toss up game in head to head meetings as the Braves have hit well against Moore and the Phillies have hit well against Morton. It all depends on how well Morton controls his pitch count and limit wasted pitches. He sometimes over exerts himself trying to do too much ahead in the count and ultimately allows hitters to extend at nats and elevate his pitch count. Warning signs should be determined once he nears the 80-90 pitch mark and how early that happens. We all know the bullpen worries so an extended outing (innings wise) bodes well if the pitch count remains low as well as the stressful innings.

Moore has not pitched well against the Braves this season and has been 2 outcome pitcher . He either gets strikeouts or gets hit hard. If the Braves can elevate his pitches he will be in trouble as most of tonight’s lineup has faced him and done well at the plate. ☝️That the trend will continue tonight. The Sean’s experiment batting second has ended (at least for tonight as for the first time this season Albies will man the number two spot as Swanson will drop to the 5 hole where he has hit more comfortably ☝️☝️.

This is a Long thread: let’s do some math SEC to a higher number

14 teams existing SEC money to each team. For purposes of this exercise let’s say 45 mm. That’s a total revenue sharing of 630mm (14@45).

if OU & UT added that number goes to ? Let’s guess 60mm. Now that’s a total of 960mm (16@60).

the difference of? 330mm. Could the existing SEC members help pay the early “get-out” fee for UT & OU? Not saying that they should. Just a thought.

now let’s take a wild guess that if two more teams joined the SEC: VT & NCST. Say the revenue share goes to 70mm. 18@70mm is 1,260mm. Again, help push that a happening by sharing the revenue to pay the get out fees.

just a wild thought

Big 12 fallout predictions

Weat Virginia - ACC. Makes too much geographical sense. They are a decent brand and solid program. Would restore natural rivalry with Va Tech. The blue bloods in Chapel Hill will complain, but the ACC need some hillbilly

Iowa State - Big 10. Natural in state rivalry with Iowa and they bring solid football and hoops programs. Market share is lacking, though

Kansas - Big 10 - They take a lesser deal to secure P5 status. Terrible football program. Basketball might save them. Again. KU and Iowa State don’t get an equal share of the Big 10 pie

Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, TCU - Pac 12. They make up there own pod. Take a smaller share initially, but bring a larger footprint to the West.

Texas Tech - cut adrift. Say hello to the group of 5. Lubbock doesn’t appeal to anyone

Notre Dame - ACC. They certainly can and might stay independent, but the ACC need them more than anything to stay viable. Some kind of back room deal to give WHATEVER they want could happen. Huge egos, lawyers and old tabacco road money might get in the way.

This would bring all 4 power conferences to 16.
It would make scheduling and playoff qualification much easier to compute.

Delp interview from TCI

Here's Oscar's interview with The Clemson Insider following the All In Cookout

A few notes:
1. “They’re still near the top of my list,” he said. “I’m just waiting to get out to games and see everywhere in a gameday atmosphere now. But it was a good visit.”
Seems like a good sign for us. Saying something positive about Clemson but not too positive. Aka it's still a SC-UGA battle, sounds like nothing changed.

2. "Delp, the nephew of former Clemson wide receiver James Chappell"
He does have family ties to Clemson. He also has family ties to SC so not as major for Clemson as it is SC

3. Clemson also had Josh Sapp, TE Greenville HS attending the event as @Chris Clark stated earlier in his Insider Report as a backup if they miss out on Delp.

4. "“[The coaches said] that I’m just the guy that they want, and they were going to show me everything that Clemson has to offer,” Delp said. “Just making me feel at home.”
If Clemson misses out on him, don't let Clemson fans tell you he wasn't their top priority at TE and that they didn't want him.

5. Per SportsTalkSC, Delp will be attending the UGA-Clemson game in Charlotte, a SC game, UGA game, Clemson game and a Michigan game. Smart kid to use his talent and see a bunch of good games for free! Can't blame him there!
