Hello from Williams-Brice Stadium, where the University of South Carolina is set to confirm its 33rd Athletics Director in school history at a Board of Trustees meeting. Updates on the meeting, and the following press conference, coming here.

South Carolina working toward hiring TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati as the school’s new athletic director, sources told ESPN. Donati has been the athletic director at TCU since December of 2017, and he’s been at the school since 2011.

Put him in the Hall. Way past time. My favorite Gamecock of all time growing up as a kid in Columbia in the '80s.

Checking in from the couch tonight as South Carolina men's basketball starts the Fort Myers Invitational. Virginia Tech vs. Michigan is going on right now, and South Carolina will start about half an hour after that one ends. Gamecocks take on No. 22 Xavier tonight, an important opportunity against a ranked opponent. I know it's early, but it feels like the Gamecocks need at least one win from the two games down there this week.

Total domination from start to finish and a nice dunk by Watkins!! I have to admit I was a little nervous about this matchup but it was a total beatdown at their place.

My wife and I will be down to watch tomorrow. Hopefully there will a nice crowd. Standing right next to the band when they are playing is quite a treat.

The band has been working hard on practice for the parade and still have more work to do but this will be a big help. I talked to a band member today and they will be playing a number of songs- mostly some of their music they play at games at the statehouse after the parade.

They are also still raising money for the Macy's trip. It's an expensive trip for 375 members. My wife and I recently donated along with my in-laws (father in law majored in music at USC and was in the band decades ago). My wife and I have decided to travel to New York to see it in person this year.

Before they storm New York City on Thanksgiving, the University of South Carolina Marching Band is practicing their Macy's Day Parade routine through downtown Columbia.

The “Big Apple Sneak Peek” will kick off at 2 p.m. Oct. 26.

More than 375 student musicians will march down Greene Street, starting at Pickens Street, before hooking a right on Sumter Street and ending at the State House. After the march, the band will play a free concert on the State House's lawn, according to the university.

The dress rehearsal comes ahead of the band's appearance in the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, which kicks off early morning Nov. 28.

Big thanks for these donations. Lots of other folks at the university have also donated, including Deans of most of the colleges on campus- along with others.

Coach Staley in particular has a bit of a habit of financially supporting the band. Earlier this year she paid for the travelling band to eat lunch on one of their trips to support the women's team in the NCAA tournament. When they won the national title, she made a point of bringing the trophy over to the band so they could hold it and get their picture taken with it.


They leave early Sunday morning. In New York City all week. Even play a mini-concert near the Brooklyn Bridge on Wednesday with the UMASS marching band. Return just in time to attend the Clemson game Saturday.

A fair number of fans (like me and my family) are going to be in the city all week. Local Gamecock alum clubs in New York will also be attending some of the events to support the band.

Why on God's Green Earth does he have to make a 6 yard run against Wofford sound like a TD to win the National Championship?
