We develop guys better and we’ve performed better since we’ve been in the SEC. You guys on every level should recruit better. I actually enjoy the “rivalry” if you want to call it that. But no Mizzou fan has any hate for USC.

Make them co-sign on the NIL, so they are responsible to both attract and retain recruits. No point in giving all that money to them if they go "bunny boiler" and chase the player out of town.

Up until the KSU win earlier this season, Drink had plenty of people who would say the same about him in terms of ability to coach. He has been recruiting pretty well since he arrived, but it wasn't showing on the field. Teams like ours who don't get the absolute top end of the national recruits need a coach capable of coaching them up and also coaches who will call a game and scheme that plays to the strength of the players he has. Also, in the age of the transfer portal, there isn't much of an excuse for having the depth issues that Carolina apparently has in several positions.
You're aiming too high when you say "elite". We won't be that. Let's start with competitive, and maybe qualifying for a good bowl.
Probably partly because Cook played most of last season with a torn labrum and struggled on anything that wasn't a short throw and we missed on our first few options in the transfer portal to bring in someone who could compete for the job.
The other parts would be that 1) Drink got rid of playcalling duties this year so he can focus on the HC job and Baker can do a better job as OC and 2) Our OL last year was not where it needed to be. I think it's still not one of the best lines that I have seen at Mizzou, but they aren't getting Cook killed.
Don't forget they beat us last year too.
But this is one of those situations where someone will ask "what was their record" if the head to head doesn't suit them. And "who won the game" when it does.
