Nope. This was sweet, but I'll take the 1971 ACC championship. You had to live through those ACC days to understand.

I agree with you, but lots of these folks are too young to remember that. You're apparently a couple of years older than me!Nope. This was sweet, but I'll take the 1971 ACC championship. You had to live through those ACC days to understand.

This was lots of fun, no matter what.
Worst loss? Losing to N.C. State in the 1970 conference tournament finals. Roche was playing on one leg.
That was in 1970. We won the ACC tournament in 1971.THAT TEAM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT...THEY PUNKED OUT VS A CRAP NCST TEAM THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THEIR CLASS
That was the 1970 team, but thanks for playing. The 1971 team beat North Carolina in the ACC final to earn the only NCAA bid from the ACC.THAT TEAM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT...THEY PUNKED OUT VS A CRAP NCST TEAM THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THEIR CLASS

first Sweet Sixteen ever
Look at this?
NCAA in 1971, 1972 & 1973 Sweet 16 three times???

Partner, you misfired that time. We beat UNC in 1971 and won the ACC Championship thereby. The tournament champion was conference champion then and was the only league team to make the NCAA Tournament. That was before the field expanded to 64. I rate that win and this one tonight as the greatest in program history.THAT TEAM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT...THEY PUNKED OUT VS A CRAP NCST TEAM THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THEIR CLASS
first Sweet Sixteen in the history of March Madness
Congratulations to Coach Martin and our courageous Gamecocks...
Geez...and all caps, lol....THAT TEAM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT...THEY PUNKED OUT VS A CRAP NCST TEAM THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THEIR CLASS
thats correct. When they were saying first sweet 16 ever I knew that was wrong -- though in those days you could get there by virtue of a bye, as in '71, or just one win ( '72 and '73).
I don't think there were 64 teams back then. You just had to win one game to get to the sweet sixteen. I'm so happy right now it doesn't matter. Those were definitely our glory years but this season has a lot of promise yet.Look at this?

lawcwcal, you are confusing 1970 with 1971.THAT TEAM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE NCAA TOURNAMENT...THEY PUNKED OUT VS A CRAP NCST TEAM THAT WASN'T EVEN IN THEIR CLASS
In our case, most of those years we got a first- round bye into the sweet 16.I don't think there were 64 teams back then. You just had to win one game to get to the sweet sixteen. I'm so happy right now it doesn't matter. Those were definitely our glory years but this season has a lot of promise yet.
