Trump is doing a great job as President and he was exactly what we needed at this time.
If we voted for a President who was perfect, we would have no one.
If the US had fired Gen. Patton for his mouth, we would have lost the war.
Since I last was involved with this thread this morning, I since talked to a guy who was a navy seal for a good 15 years and he had a really interesting theory. It is going to be difficult for me to explain the whole thing here but I will try. His thing is this...
1.) Were this as serious as they are saying, Trump would be speaking from an underground bunker and the military would already be in the streets. No way would Trump be making statements, surrounded by people.
2.) Why are we not hearing reports of cases in Russia or in Mexico and South America?
He believes this is all connected to the trade war with China that Trump started. Not that the virus cannot be deadly - it can and is a real thing - but that it has been way overly stated. He says this is all about the european and the asian markets - that Trump knows this will damage their economy much more than ours. He pointed out the fact that half of WalMarts goods are made in China and that now, their shelves are empty. They will have no choice but to restock it with our own goods. The oil markets are down and we are not bringing in imported oil but are using our own, causing the prices of gas to drop. He says this all goes back to "never let a crisis go to waste" and that Trump has seized on this to further damage the Asian market. Once that has been done to the powers that be satisfaction, he believes our market will come roaring back. He says Obama did the same thing with Venezuela.

You obviously completely missed what I said. He was supporting Trump. He was saying how brilliant he thinks Trump is and that this is all connected with the trade war with China, where Trump has been beating their tails lately with the tariffs he imposed.
Trump took on the unfair trade practices with China when a horde of former US Presidents simply kicked the can down the road.

Trump started quarantining people and also declared a national health emergency in January. JANUARY, when nobody was talking about this. He also restricted travel to China in JANUARY. BEFORE THERE WAS EVEN A TEST FOR THIS VIRUS.
But he just started taking it seriously. Riiiight.
Carlson has been the one personality who has repeatedly tried to indicate this is a significant issue calling out his colleagues and elected officials for the attempts at downplaying it and not having a plan.

Laughable. Trump started the task force in January. He declare a national health emergency in January. He quarantined people in January. He restricted travel with China in January.

As scary as it is, it’s not a secret Tucker counsels the President. It’s also no secret that Tucker was complaining about the lack of seriousness in addressing the virus and then after the Mar a Lago trip, Trump seemed to change his tune overnight.
It is not so much a question of totals as it is rate of infection. The Qiagen kit would have helped identify those shedding virus so that they could be isolated; thus, slowing the RATE of transmission. Of course, Trump was also gambling with lives by refusing to except WHO and CDC warnings, downplaying the situation, and delaying the restrictions that we are finally starting to see this week. Sorry that he's apparently "your guy", but history will not be kind to him. Be safe!

I think Nikki Haley would be a good President right now. Honestly, there is not anyone on the center left or left I would trust with our capitalist democracy, such as it remains. We need a center right, calm leader who is veering left on the crisis management. She's seen the pain of small business, been on the world stage and been a Governor. Trump is positioned, he just has little likeability or emotional resonation for so many Americans. A democrat would spin us toward socialism in a moment.

That’s fine but in the primary there were 9 other people who all said the same thing about abortion and the support still went to him. That answer is a post justification and when they had full control of Congress they never addressed that issue. The only thing they used their power to force through was the tax bill for their donors.

Hannity thanks for the spin but that’s not remotely correct. A national health emergency was declared when 15 cases of H1N1 were found in the US and the funding packages were requested the next day with increased testing being rolled out as well. Declaring the National Emergency came later but it didn’t change anything on the actions and all of the movement towards addressing the issue.
In terms of the travel restrictions as opposed to bans the only thing they are limiting is tourism and while that’s helpful it’s not a ban like people want to claim. If you still want to go to China and come back you’re more than welcome to. I’m glad we are trying to stop it from coming in but we shouldn’t be half doing it.

trump did not “shut down travel” to the US. He limited non citizens from flying home from certain countries. Americans and permanent residents could fly home, and some did from China and other countries. The border with Mexico is open as we sit here. They have talked about turning some migrants around at the border but they have not closed the border.

I’m am a Christian. I teach Sunday School every week at a Baptist Church. I have voted for pro choice candidates. In fact, I voted for James Smith for Governor. He Is not for banning abortion services . In fact, most African Americans that voted in our state voted for him. A great many of them are dedicated Christians.
I’m not a one issue voter. Never have been, never will be.
