I have no inside info but being held out of practice 3 or more days already is sending out bad signals if Dex wants to stay at USC. Not the good first impression we all had hoped for. Jmo

Already called a"DT" raised flags with me. He was a stud end coming out of high school. I hope Im wrong but discipline seems to be an issue. He was supposed to grow into the interior. Maybe its geneaology, but the kid needs to show out and give us solid depth this year.

Signing kids from small high schools that never win squat usually ends up worse than getting ones from schools that win

He doesn't realize the impact he could have on this DLine if he squared himself away and got after it. Maybe the light will come on.

Re: adjustment u have 2 make it, now what about r lamar grads?:) *

Nothing new for him...had his backside kissed for a long time and has never had to work for anything.

I guess all that military training had little effect on him.....being from Camden and knowing the school (Camden Military Academy) very well, that doesn't surprise me. They sugar coat or sweep things under the rug daily.

At this point I'm afraid it is 50/50 that he never sees the field. I hope this isn't the beginning of seeing this class experiencing issues like last years.

First, to address one comment above: Wideman was not a defensive end in high school. He was a tackle and he was then and is now built like a tackle. Not sure where this idea that he is a DE got started.

Second, ask anyone close to the Saluda High football program (coaches) and they would have told you this was coming. Wideman was (is?) a lazy kid, which is why he ended up in prep school where he, apparently, didn't learn his lesson.

I guess everyone was hoping he was going to be like Quarles, who was very emotional after he didn't qualify and was very motivated to make things right for himself. Unfortunately that is not usually the case and that is why I wasn't in a hurry to be so excited about these prep school guys. If you coast through HS it takes a lot of work and practice writing papers to survive college. It's not likely to happen overnight. Believe me, I know.

He CAN right his now listing ship if he CHOOSES to do so, but the ball is in his court.

I'm VERY disappointed in this young man, thus far. I have visions of his grandmother, mother, aunts, etc. surrounding him at the signing ceremony at Saluda High School - so many people; so let down - not the least of which will be Wideman himself. This is his chance to make something of himself, but he's going to have to WORK for it - yes, that thing (WORK) that often messes up fun & games is going to have to be a PRIORITY in his life.

Be a REAL man - DO IT!!!

The school has a well funded program that has grad assistants that walk to class with the players and sit with them if necessary. If he's skipping class, he must be really working at it.
