It's "actually" $41 million he has "committed" from his foundation, not out of his own pocket like you suggest. As of now, his foundation has taken in less than $3 million in it's lifetime. May or may not happen, based on future donations to the foundation. If it were out of his own pocket, he could most like write the check for it to happen tomorrow.
I'm confused. How does one start a foundation, and then "commit" money that hasn't even been donated from any source? (According to your post his foundation has taken in less than $3 million.)
In that case, let me announce ... I am establishing a foundation ... in my name ... of course ... that will provide $1 Billion to the University Of SC, with another $9 Billion to follow within the next 10 years to totally upgrade, modernize, and otherwise put every other university in the world to shame while elevating USC in every way that can be imagined and measured. We will hire only the best administrators, faculty, staff and coaches the world has to offer, while academic and athletic facilities will not just surpass those that any university in history has ever boasted of, they will have no equal! What a momentous day this is in the history of Gamecock sports and the entire university!
Now, everybody love me, even though I have no idea how this foundation will ever be funded.
