Well his mother was a teenager when she had him and they were also homeless. What helped him have a chance was when one of his coaches decided to help mentor him and provide him with a more stable environment.

First..Manafold said the key words "if he couldn't play basketball" as that has allowed him to do everything he has done.....He is probably correct as a kid his background would be very unlikely to be as successful. It is just the truth. And if you think that nothing that happens in Washington affects you or your family.......God bless your little heart.
I get it, I just don't understand why people find him a bad person for it. It's not about them speaking their minds, but about what's on their minds. I honestly don't get what he did or said that has everyone up in an uproar or angry at him. I mean, people are genuinely upset at him, and I do not understand why.

Because it's more their country than it is his country, and they are the only ones who are allowed to be upset with the state of their country. He needs to be quiet and enjoy the freedom and success he was given.
No different than any other time in history. These athletes are Americans first. Sitting back remaining silent doesn't bring attention to your cause.

I agree with you, but from birth, 99% of the people in the world aren't capable of making it to the NBA, regardless of work ethic. These athletes certainly have to work hard, but they have many advantages. I'm a 5'11" slow guy. No amount of training or practice would have gotten me to the NBA.
I also have the up most respect for him allowing his childhood friends to help run his business affairs and their doing a good job at it.

There have been hundreds of short guys in the NBA. Allen Iverson is one of the best 50 players to ever play the game and he's only 5'11. I could go on, but I digress.
