SI had the rule wrong in an article then. Wow, why would you use a DE in that circumstance? No, they just can't be on the field at the same time. That would be a penalty. It was Burch, total clown show coaching staff.

Burch did play Rb in hs. It seems more likely a scenario of a coaching staff in over their heads at the current moment.SI had the rule wrong in an article then. Wow, why would you use a DE in that circumstance?

The whole point of a trick play is to make something unexpected by the defense.SI had the rule wrong in an article then. Wow, why would you use a DE in that circumstance?
True....but don't we have a WR that used to play QB in HS? Or is that too obvious? The whole point of a trick play is to make something unexpected by the defense.
I disagree with the results-oriented grading of “good decision/bad decision.”Would of been a good play if it had worked. Like all of them. But it didn’t. It had no chance with that coverage. What I don’t understand is why it was run to the short side of the field. I guess because that side was to the throwing hand of the passer. So, a bad play results.
It was Burch. Beamer said they had been practicing that play to use for a going for two scenario.Brooks would have to be the culprit
I watched both Beamers and Doty’s post game interview,IMO,they kinda both go against one another.one says they been practicing all week and the other a couple of times if I remember correctly.I could be wrong without going back and watching. It was Burch. Beamer said they had been practicing that play to use for a going for two scenario.
The coaches said all week that Burch had been executing the throw.True....but don't we have a WR that used to play QB in HS? Or is that too obvious?
Even better...a Defensive end threw into triple coverage. That's the brain trust on the Carolina sidelines.Did a RB throw that ball into triple coverage? Video is small.
Why were we trying trick plays on the goal line in the first quarter “only” down 14-0?

Unfortunately the dumb play calls seem to be persistent each and every week on offense. I understand things are a work in progress and there have been some encouraging signs. However, some of these decisions and play calls really make you scratch your head. With the RB stable we have I cannot understand why this? Maybe this will teach a lesson to our inexperienced coaches that they will never forget.
And it was only 2nd down wasn't it?He had two guys blocking in front of him, and one player between him and the goal line. Wish he woulda taken that shot! Burch is a big ole guy who can run! I bet he could lean into the end zone through one tackler.
Oh well.
Have you seen our lack of running game this year? With the RB stable we have I cannot understand why this? Maybe this will teach a lesson to our inexperienced coaches that they will never forget.
We ran the ball down there then ran this stupid play on second down.Have you seen our lack of running game this year?
I’m honestly impressed people think we can just control the line of scrimmage.
THIS. We'd just run the ball down the field consistently on them. Should have lined up under center and ran it 4 times. Stuff the ball into either Harris's or McDowell's gut and tell the keep their feet moving forward. I was pretty much done with the game at that moment. That was a stupid ass play call, even if it had worked.
It's not worked in ANY season we've tried it.1st and goal from the 1sh and we have Harris and we try to get cute and direct snap it, which has never worked this season that I recall. And then try another trick play that is a disaster. Just stupid!!!!!
Yep, this is where you put Trai Jones at FB, and hand the ball to Harris 4 times.THIS. We'd just run the ball down the field consistently on them. I'm old school. I would have gone Power I 4 straight runs. Much better chance of scoring. God I miss the old days.Yep, this is where you put Trai Jones at FB, and hand the ball to Harris 4 times.
Lloyd's reaction after that abortion of 2 plays was exactly what my reaction was.
Jones or Jenkins. He made a great lead blocker on a play or two before to help get us down there.Yep, this is where you put Trai Jones at FB, and hand the ball to Harris 4 times.

This staff and the last one want Dak to do something so badly and he simply doesn't have "it". I mean, he must just be a practice monster. If you want to win SEC football games you need to get him off the field.Heck had Dak read it right and given the ball to Lloyd he would’ve had the TD and no need for the Burch debacle.
If you want deception on that play, let Dak take the snap and hand it off to Harris. Everybody in the stadium including the entire Tennessee defense knew Dak would run the ball. He does every time he takes the snap. This staff and the last one want Dak to do something so badly and he simply doesn't have "it". I mean, he must just be a practice monster. But some people think he's a QB. 😉 Not only can he not pass well, he doesn't read on the read run option. If you want deception on that play, let Dak take the snap and hand it off to Harris. The wheels have fallen off. That's plain to see.hope the training wheels come off soon.
Burch played running back at Hammond quite often. He probably should have lowered his head and tried to ram it in. Throwing, not good decision. How do you blame Burch? He’s a defensive end for gods sake. It was a terrible play call (actually 1st down as well) and should have never happened. Why not throw Parker White in there or a punter or you can just do what you did the entire drive? How hard is this? Seriously? I think it’s harder to come up with these two plays than it is to call the plays that probably would have scored. This is the dumbest poorly coached football I have ever watched. It’s not the players!!!
Into triple coverage.Throwing, not good decision.
