What took so long for the coaching staff to realize Jason Brown is the best quarterback we have?

Not to take anything away from the oline but I encourage people to check some stats versus Florida compared to the rest of the season. Look at sacks, TFL and QB pressures and see how it matches up to the prior games. What you will find is that those numbers weren’t lower against Florida but the difference was the RBs breaking tackles and the QB moving in rhe pocket. Brown got pressured but didn’t panic which makes everything look better in the end.

That's absurd. You don't know what would have happened if we needed Brown to win with his arm.

No one knows, and no one knows what's going to happen when we need Brown to make clutch plays when the game is on the line.

You are correct, I don't know that. What's your point?

It just seems like folks are running from the obvious most glaring improvement, which was line play. I'm not knocking Brown at all and have said he played a good game, but line play was the primary catalyst for the overall offensive improvement.

I get it some of you want to feel technical and smart by dissecting oline play but really was due to Jason's mobility and ability to throw on the run that kept our plays alive. I agree, not quite sure what our coaches have been looking at as far as keeping him benched. And yes, the oline did get some push compared to other games but our QB play was borderline lights out. Why do you think Shane gave Jason the game ball.

That's a darn good question. Many posters on here are still eating crow this morning. It's a bitter meal and they don't like the taste. Jason Brown's play was the difference. The kids believe in him, hence the pep in their step this past Saturday night. I hope that it continues for the next 3 games. Oh, did you see the way Jason went out of is way to hug the offensive linemen? The kid has class. Go Gamecocks!!!!

The hyperbole isn't helping you out. Lights out? I would hardly call 14/25 for 175 yards "lights out." But he played well. Everyone agrees on that.

On our 3rd offensive play of the game, White had a 12 yard run that set the tone for what was to come in the game for the run game. That what was all OL and White.

It was, sorry to say, a total team effort. While QB play was certainly upgraded, the greatest improvements were from the OL and run game.

Nobody knew anything about Brown's abilities until Saturday night. A lot of guesses were made, but they were just that: guesses.

Everybody’s a coach.
One man does not a team make. It took a cumulative effort, as always, to beat Florida. Let’s hope we keep it going.

Brown himself admitted he came in out of shape. Some people ONLY see the negative in every circumstance, guess you’re one.
No way to get that out of anything I've posted. I'm anointing Brown AND the ingenious poster who identified him as our eventual savior back during the Spring Game. You don't know positivity when you read it.

If the truth be told my bet is that Brown would have never seen the field if Doty and Zeb had not got hurt. Let that sink in for a minute. Either they are blind or incompetent.
To be fair, I am confident we never saw Doty at 100% based on his lack of quickness/speed. If he had been healthy, who knows how he would have performed.

You were the one claiming a fan was smarter than the coaching staff, a baseless claim based on Browns own admission he came into camp out of shape.

Doty cannot make the throws. It is almost like he aims it at the feet of a receiver!!

No, I was not. It was the fan himself, right here on this website. He has even reiterated it since Saturday. But as for Brown, he is a a judicious young man who understands that humility is the proper stance at this time. He knows better than to make the coaches look bad. But he also knows that he saved the @$$e$ of every player and coach in the organization. Millions of people saw it.

Oh please.

Partner, why do you hedge? The entire fanbase is declaring the program redeemed. Brown is the Second Coming of Patrick Mahomes (to whom our redoubtable WBB coach likened him), and under his inspiration, the backs are running hard, the line is opening holes, and the defense is snuffing out the opposition. We should be clear favorites in this next game and slight favorites in the other two - and I'm being conservative.

You do realize that some people have been saying this for months now and not just since Saturday. I get that there is a desire to push the narrative that the coaches know best but even Spurrier said he thought Brown should have been starting since the spring game. Beamer is a rookie HC and it sucks that it took 9 games and two injuries to find a combination that worked. He’s going to make other mistakes as he gets used to this new responsibility so there’s no point getting frustrated when people notice them.

Yes, there were multiple people to whom this was obvious. Yes I do realize this. But it was visited upon me afresh by the gentleman who reminded us of his prescience in this regard since the game. Whether Brown was in shape or not early on, he evidently threw a better ball and had better football chops as early as last spring, according to these incisive observers. We've been paying the wrong people the whole time. 🤣

Brown steal your puppy or something?

Now what would lead you to that conclusion? I'm as pro-Brown as anyone in the world who isn't his kin. Brown is the most heroic Gamecock quarterback since Connor Shaw and joins the Carolina pantheon of valor with the likes of Grantz, Tanneyhill, and Hold, not to mention Dylan Thompson.
