So Clempson and FSU have asked the SEC for membership?

Was pretty widely reported yesterday that both CU and FSU have reached out to the SEC to express interest. This is basically how the UT/OU story started. Some of the reports mentioned the SEC is focused on streaming #'s for TV contract value, not necessarily traditional live TV ratings. If true, CU/FSU make sense. Fans always think the league is focused on what their game day atmosphere is like, home attendance, do they bring in a new TV market, etc. The whole landscape has changed and the SEC may be trying to bolster its live streaming #s because its clear the ESPN agreement will be re-worked now and many have speculated the Longhorn Network will become a comprehensive streaming network for SEC sports.

It looks like we are headed to a 9-game conference schedule. If this happens, no Clempson in the SEC and us still having to play them every year is not good for SC. With CU in the SEC, it basically leaves us with our current schedule split......9 games vs conference/Clempson and leaving 3 games for us to schedule OOC. As we rebuild our program, this will help get to bowl eligibility each year.

I also think in any scenario of CU in the SEC, they will not come close to running the table in the SEC like they do now in the ACC. They already recruit really well so not sure how recruiting on the SEC brand helps them that much. But them having to consistently play teams like UF, UGA, Bama, Auburn, etc on top of FSU and us will 100% produce more L's on their season than they have seen over the last 5 or so years. They will also get pounded in baseball and several other non-football sports. Take away football and they will have one of the weaker overall sports programs in the conference.

AD Tanner

Everyone needs to read the story about the NIL program that has been announced. The article lists several initiatives that Tanner has put in place that are cutting edge for the student athlete, plus the COVID protocols and testing that he is responsible for and it is easy to see that he has accomplished a lot and he knows what he is doing. Those of you (and you know who you are) who bash him constantly for being an idiot do not know what you are talking about. It takes leadership to be cutting edge with an organization. We all agree that Muschamp was a bust. I just hope there will be equal praise for Tanner concerning Beamer.

My report on Beamer's Charleston visit..

I attended the Gamecock Club event Thursday night in Charleston. It was a full house and lots of fun. I think I startled Wes when I introduced myself out front. LOL
I really enjoyed hearing all the coaches speak especially Tony Annan (soccer), Boo Major (equestrian), Montario Hardesty, and of course Beamer himself.
Frank Beamer and his wife were in the house sitting at Joe Rice's table front and center. Shane Beamer was so patient with the very large autograph line as it took about 45 plus minutes for all us fans to get through. When I showed him a picture of my car he was very impressed and signed it for me.
Shane really knows how to work a room. He was so energetic and treated each fan, young and old, with sincerity and kindness. The guy has that "it" factor and his enthusiasm and passion are something to see.
I asked him a question as well. The question was out of all the head coaches you worked under, which one most closely resembles your personality and demeanor and you can't say your father.
He said it would be Lincoln as Lincoln was always even keel, never too high or too low.
I can't wait for September 4th!

1998 Antonio Grant hits unlikely shot

down by over 20 points in the first half they began a comeback leading up to this odd play that looks doomed from the get go, yet somehow winds up in AG's hands. you can skip to the play at around 1:00 4.1 seconds one point down ball out of bounds on side. does BJ hook the defender? was that a lucky pass? that is rhetorical only but a memorable shot
i was at home sulking watching cincy mop the floor with us a long while then exultation Login to view embedded media

Will we have the biggest positive change in class ranking from 2021 to 2022?

Per Rivals, we were 79th in 2021 (out of 100 teams). We currently sit at 30th. We'll likely land around 25th. Higher if we can snag James and or Baker. We should see a rise of at least 50 spots in the rankings. A quick glance of the teams ranked near the bottom and I don't see anyone who looks like they'll have a massive jump.

It's a nice job by Beamer to take us from one of our worst classes ever back to around our norm in just his first class. Based on how some of these big-time recruits shake out, he could do even better than that.

SEC Road to 20----who is your dream 4 to add?

So we're up to 16 teams now, 4 slots remaining to get to the 20 school mega-conference. Here is my list, don't care about the increased competition aspect...we aren't winning anything on the gridiron anytime soon. Might as well add some fun games/road trips...and raid the ACC.

1. Clemson
2. Florida St.
3. UNC
4. Virginia

Va. Tech and NC State might seem like better fits but they don't move the needle like their big brothers do...

Summer of 98

My mother in law just moved to town and my wife was getting her settled in Saturday. Left me a day to watch a bunch of 30 for 30.

Watched the one on the home run chase between McGuire, Sosa and Griffey Jr. What fun summer that was waiting on the SC highlights. Hard to believe it has been 23 years since McGuire Sosa. Time flies!

SEC Baseball

we;;, Texas and Oklahoma bring more prestige to SEC baseball.

During SEC Media Days, Sankey expressed that the SEC is very disgruntled about the 11,7 scholarship limitation in baseball and expressed that the conference would like to expand it to full-roster 28 scholarships. Now, we probably won't be able to if the SEC stays in the NCAA. He didn't say we are leaving the NCAA but he did consider it an option.

Whatever happens, SEC baseball will remain kings. We just have to get back in the palace.
