So if were the Big 12 - I would become the Big 16

Instead of the remaining members moving to the AAC, I would try to pull 3 from the MWC and pull 5 from the AAC. So along with the 8 schools left from the Big12, I would add the following:

From the AAC
UCF
USF
Houston
Cincinnati
Memphis

From the MWC
CSU
New Mexico (larger TV market than you think)
Wyoming

East Div
WVU
UCF
USF
Houston
Cincinnati
Memphis
Baylor
TCU

West Div
CSU
New Mexico
Wyoming
ISU
KSU
TTU
KU
OSU

I am sure that KU will try to find a new home besides this, might pickup Tulane or SMU.

South, west, north, atlantic

Expansion will likely end with 4 16 team conferences.

Big 10 and SEC are the big dogs. Pac 10 and ACC need to improve product. They have to many schools with limited passion for football.

The ACC schools are really stuck because of length of deal. It created stability but could hurt football schools. The problem for the ACC is what big time program is available.

Nation's No. 1 recruit could give up senior season for 7-figure NIL offers

*** LIVE: Shane Beamer Camp, Day 10 - OL/DL Camp and 7-on-7 tourney (June 25) ***

Gamecock Central will once again bring you live coverage today for the 10th and final day of the The Shane Beamer Camp circuit. Like last week and yesterday, Friday will feature an OL/DL Camp and a team 7-on-7 passing tournament. The OL/DL camp starts bright and early with registration at 7:30 a.m. and runs through 12:30 while the 7-on-7 tournament starts at 9 a.m. and will go to 4 p.m.

Chris and I will post updates in this thread and I'll be editing a preview into this post momentarily.

Shane Beamer Football Camp Insider - Day 9

Gamecocks set to host 12 on OVs'

LIVE: Shane Beamer Camp, Day 9 - OL/DL Camp + 7-on-7 Tournament

** Shelby (N.C.) class of 2022 four-star defensive tackle Santana Hopper will get his first opportunity to work out with South Carolina defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, who has been staying in touch with him quite a bit, at today's OL/DL camp.

While we haven't talked about Hopper a ton in regards to South Carolina to this point, I'm told there's real interest in the Gamecocks from his side and this visit will likely be a key point in his recruitment as far as Carolina goes - regarding both how the visit goes from his standpoint and how he performs and what he measures in at from Carolina's perspective.

Hopper, who was offered by the previous staff, is a highly productive player and one that I believe the Gamecocks can become a major factor with if they push. There have been a ton of top defensive line prospects rolling through this June, including another on an official this weekend in Nick James, so we'll see how all of that shakes out.

** Today will also offer us another opportunity to put eyes on Fort Mill (S.C.) Nation Ford class of 2023 quarterback Carson Black, who has early offers from South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Cincinnati and Louisville.

Black and his NoFo team will be competing in today's 7-on-7 camp.

** Bluffton (S.C.) class of 2022 three-star DT D.J. Aiken received some early major offers in his recruitment but the Gamecocks have yet to make a move here.

Aiken will work out during the OL/DL camp today and it will also be Gamecock Central's first real opportunity to take a look at him in that setting.

** Florence (S.C.) South Florence class of 2023 QB LaNorris Sellers has landed early offers from Virginia Tech, Virginia and Washington, so he's clearly a Power 5 quarterback though he has remained somewhat under the radar to this point.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, Sellers is a big, athletic quarterback who can spin it and probably tops the list of the prospects I'm most intrigued to watch today.

SIAP- Big 12 Cease and desist to ESPN

So- Big 12 accuses ESPN of unlawful involvement in encouraging B12 members to jump ship. ESPN basically says “get Fed”. Did not see this discussed in depth here yet… Anybody know what impact this could have on the SEC’s expansion (if any) assuming the B12 can back up their claims?

OT: Darlington or Florence, Buy a house or rent ?

I am moving from Georgia to work in the Florence area. My wife will work 2 or 3 days a week in Columbia. We are looking for a place to live. It looks like rental homes are very expensive in Florence, so we are looking at buying in the Darlington area. The kids are older, so we don't care about school districts. I have had a tough time in the past selling houses, so I'm wondering what some of you folks think.

Looking at the 2021 Defense ......

lots of unknowns here but let's make a few assumptions. Returnees will be better than they were last year.
they offense will be slightly to much better based on having a good OC who will be allowed to run his offense. The defense will be better. Not sure how much but it'd be hard to be worse than the past couple of years. Special Teams will be "light years" better than at any time during Muskrat's tenure. I expect us to win the ST's battle almost every game this year and for it to be a significant factor in our improvement from 2020. So here's the positions I see (4-2-5):

Edge-2- Enagbare / Burch, Strachan/Sterling, Edmonds/Fitten. Are top 4 are good to very good and give us talent and depth. the last 2 are filler.

DT/NT-2- Pickens/Sandidge, Hemmingway/Ellis, Davis/Webb, Green/Barrett. top 4 are good, solid SEC talents. we even have some depth behind that.

LB-2- Greene/Kaba, Williams/Bam Scott, Johnson/Staley, Louis/Eason-Riddle. our 1st 4 are good quality LB's. I oarticularly like Deebo. Gotta stay healthy.

Spur-1- Roderick/Dickerson, Platel. 1st 2 are run stuffers. Platel is good in coverage.

CB-2- Smith/Prunty, Fortune/Norris, Dial/Craig. there's talent here to work with. I am hopeful we can be productive and keep our best ones on the field and out of the training room.

S-2- Foster/Ross, Hunter/Hill, Spaulding. wild guess here. Some of the Spurs could rotate here and vice versa. Not sure what we'll have here. if the pass rush is good, it will help quite a bit.

I expect us to field an aggressive defense that is competitive. If we can go from the worst in the SEC (if not us Ole Miss) to the middle of the pack, that will be quite an improvement. I think we will probably have a solid defense. We simply cannot have injuries gut us like the past 2 to 3 yrs.

Now that NCAA demise is eminent

What are your thoughts on why the NCAA became such an ineffective organization?

For lack of any better idea of my own I think it was just part of their DNA. They essentially did nothing from 1906 to 1948 when the cracked down hard on gambling and pay for play schemes. 42 years.

Then in the 50s and 60s they somehow wrestled broadcasting rights from the schools. By the 80s they were litigating with their own members over TV rights.

It’s as if they’ve been tone deaf since day one. Would a Roy Kramer or Sankey have been a more effective leader or was the institution unchangeable?

Infamous Scumbag Tater Yusef Kelly Suspended from Easley P.D. for sending lewd photo to child

Former Clemson Tigers’ running back Yusef Kelly – the subject of several iconic images taken in the aftermath of a vicious 2004 brawl between the Tigers and their arch rivals at the University of South Carolina – is now in trouble over a much different kind of picture.

Kelly is under investigation by the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) after he allegedly sent at least one inappropriate image to a juvenile.

“We have an open investigation involving Mr. Kelly,” SLED spokesman Tommy Crosby confirmed to this news outlet, although he did not immediately provide any details regarding the nature of that inquiry.

SLED was asked to investigate Kelly because of his status as a former member of the Easley, S.C. police department, sources familiar with the inquiry told me.

News of the investigation into Kelly was first confirmed by reporter Cody Alcorn of Fox Carolina, who reported that Kelly was “no longer employed” by the Easley police following a “brief investigation” the agency conducted into the allegations.

It will now be up to SLED to determine whether he should also face criminal consequences.

and:

“It was a fight,” Kelly said after the game. “Everybody knows things like that happen during a fight.”

After the brawl, Kelly paraded in front of the Clemson student section with a captured Gamecock helmet – tossing it jubilantly into the stands.

“They’ll have something to remember me by,” he said at the time.

Now it appears as though fans could have something else to remember Kelly by …

OT: Getting older, wiser, and kinder message

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:
1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself.
2 I have realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
3 I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.
4 I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am.
5 I stopped telling the elderly that they've already told that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past.
6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.
7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You.”
8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.
9 I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.
10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.
11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.
12 I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone.
13 I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.
14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!
I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age?

Braves 🆚 Mets 7/28/21 Sweep The week Continues

Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. Great answer last night by a very dormant offense. It is as if a metamorphosis occurred and the larvae 🐛 became butterflies 🦋 all of a sudden. But these butterflies were infused with superchargers as balls were flying out of the park left and right. Riley had 2 and 6 Rbi, Albies had a 2 run bomb, Almonte also participated with an oppo taco 🌮 2 run homer. To start the scoring in the first inning Swanson opened the floodgates with a 2 run double. The run production made it easier for Morton to pitch but eventually lead to his struggles in the 3rd and again in the 5th as he expended lots of unnecessary energy trying to paint corners and miss bats. He completed his requisite 5 innings and the bullpen finished the outing. The win closed the gap to 4 game deficit for the Braves as they continue to try to whittle down the lead. Two more games remain beginning at 7:10 tonight and culminating in an afternoon contest at 12:10 tomorrow.

The Braves will throw Max Fried tonight against Mets rookie phenom Tyler McGill who has really been impressive in his young career. He started his first major league game against the Braves and has really held his own and pitched well. He waste no time between pitches and attacks the strike zone with pitches that seem to surprise hitters with their suddenness at the plate. That means batters don’t pick the ball up from his point of release very well and is very advantageous early as players have not gotten a book on him or have enough film to adequately prepare. Even if they did it may be difficult to translate to plate appearances without having a good visual of his release point. The timing factor really makes him an effective pitcher. Max Fried has established himself as an emerging Frontline starter. He is a slow starter in his young career as it takes him a couple of innings to master his release point and to pinpoint his control. When he is on he is almost un-hittable 😎. If he is painting with his fastball his breaking balls can embarrass a hitter. Looking forward to a pitching duel with the Braves working McGill to elevate his pitch count and task the Mets overworked bullpen again tonight.
