In today's GC email, Chris Clark had a breakdown on our recruiting ranking this year, currently at 14 on Rivals, but he pointed out how total # of commitments influences that ranking, so ranking doesn't necessarily mean much at this point. He used BC as an example, being ranked 8th currently but with 21 commits and a lower star average than us with 14 commits. Ranked by star average, we're currently #33. Chris listed our previous 5 years rankings:

2021: 79th
2020: 18th
2019: 19th
2018: 18th
2017: 16th

I'm curious how our average star rankings ranked during those years, and during the full tenure of Coach Spurrier. Does anyone have or want to look that up?

I am writing with a heavy heart as the news of the severity of RAJ injury to his knee. It is his right leg so that is his push off knee. He will have his surgery soon and we will discover a tile frame once the extent of the damage is further analyzed and what the doctors reveal post surgery. His youth should help in the healing process and we know he is a hard and dedicated worker so let’s just look at this as a small bump in the road. (Rant Beginning) Maybe the league should require warning tracks be made of more malleable material without a concrete effect for these multimillion dollar players to perform on. (Frustration Rant Over)

This is the final game of the road trip and the last game before the All Star Break. The team is at the break even point and today they will try to win on for Acuna. 😎. He was placed in the 60 day IL of course it will be months or close to a year before he returns . If he is ready before the All Star Break that would be phenomenal news . Johan Carmargo was recalled from Gwinnett to replace him for today’s game.
The Braves will throw Ian Anderson today. He is an excellent pitcher but sometimes has trouble finding his rhythm early in games . Here is hoping he finds that release point early band can keep this game low scoring as the Braves try to reassemble an offensive identity with a next man up approach. Anderson will be opposed by Pablo Lopez who was tossed after one pitch last time he faced the Braves. He is a good pitcher and without Acuna on the lineup the only other player to give him problems in the past are on the IL or on his bench playing for them. Freeman has had middling success let’s just hope the players can make contact today.

now this may not have been any mass shooting plot. they may have planned to go hunting
but several people most of whom have prior records along with lots of guns and ammo.....and some guy posting on social media after a divorce he was going to "go out" in a big way......makes you wonder.

Who were some of those recruits. This is definitely one of the classes that started the downfall. Out of all the WR’s and DB’s only Rashad Fenton truly was a contributor.

We had 10 4 stars and only finished with 11 but I think a lot of the 10 we had committed at this point flipped when the Spurrier conference fiasco happened in the season.

We are getting close to the break with 2 games remaining and the never ending quest to have more wins than losses. This has been a treading water season this far as the Braves have been struggling to get their heads above water all season long. The early season injuries and off the field legal issues have decimated the middle of the Braves batting order and run production has been down. Early I. The season the starting h pitchers were horrible and really taxed and ultimately exposed the much weaker bullpen than last season. With the forces of nature seemingly against them they have somehow remained in contention for the division title only trailing by 4 1/2 games. To be that close with all of the untimely blown saves , early inning departures and lackluster offensive production it is truly astonishing to see the team still in contention.

Today’s starting pitchers are not Southpaws as the Braves will throw Max Fried and he will be opposed by the Marlins Young phenom Trevor Rogers. Fried has struggled against the Marlins and their bevy of right hand bats and former Braves Duvall has owned him batting 500 with 3 homers . He needs to use his repertoire of breaking balls and good fastball placement. He needs to get out of his patterns and hit his spots. The Braves will have to rev up their timing at the plate because Rogers can bring the heat. He has High Velocity fastball upper 90’s and uses a slider to disrupt the timing.

I guess no one knows for sure at this point but here’s a scenario.
I’ll use the Manning kid as an example.
Clemson gets this guy. Then the next recruiting cycle another top QB (I’ll call him Tim )has Clemson as a choice.
Now Tim can go to Clemson and know he has a good chance of playing limited snaps for at least two years.
Or Tim could go somewhere like Columbia or Knoxville and probably start making $ on his NIL right away.

Do you think recruits will think this way? Do schools in cities like Columbia provide more opportunities than a Starkville for example?
