Beamer possibe candidate at Va Tech; Ray hiring again

Hope so. Then without a certain influence, Tanner will finally be free to hire this guy:

LSU might be his destination.

This level of delusional is what makes FGF so much fun to read.

Finebaum has a 4-hour show where he has to keep saying something, including the most ludicrous garbage you could imagine. There is not a single team in NCAA football (FBS or FCS) that would hire Beamer as a head coach right now - or even a coordinator.

He's our guy, so let's hope he can turn it around.

Beamer a possible candidate at VT? I wish. But that is just some writer writing a story because his last name is Beamer. And what would spur such a hiring? His years of being a coordinator in his 20 year career? No, can't go there. The thrilling victory over the worst team in major college football in Vandy? Or maybe the 14 pts he finally put on the board at TAMU after Jimbo put in the 3rd team. I would love it if they hired him. Then maybe somebody at USC would get focused on a serious hire. But that ain't happening

Is anyone really falling for this.
Think about it, VT BOT is looking at the product that Shane has produced thus far and their take away is "Oh, Yeah, we gotta have that, and now"
Sheesh, cmon people, let's get real.
This is about as silly as the rumors that someone was going to hire Muschamp off of our hands.

It would serve us right for VT to hire Beamer and then for him to have Dabo-like success,
Why? Maybe wanting to fire him is premature, but Carolina fans have been much too tolerant for too long to have our own fans think the suffering should continue. VT fans are a bunch of whiny piss ants too (if Cocks fans are) who don’t nearly deserve any more success than us because 1, Fuente was actually an experienced HC who was the ACC COY his first year, yeah it was Frank’s players, but he’s obviously proven he can coach. 2, 4 bowls the first 4 years, plus an ACCCG his first year. 3, a .731 record in Turkeyville. Etc…etc…

Those numb nuts really better be careful what they wish for. And trust me, my sample size with them isn’t small, I’ve been around them since 1982-3. Not to mention, since Frank has been gone, Bronco has gotten his share of the 757, and that is what made VT, VT. Until any Tech HC dominates that area again, they might not ever replicate what they once were. Honestly, Shane needs to up that recruiting budget, and take several trips to Hampton and Newport News.

If they come for a coach from SC it'll be Chadwell. They love all things Beamer at Va Tech, but they're not stupid enough to hire Shane.Only one AD has that distinction.
Correct. It will be Chadwell. Hire Shane? Not happening.

Serious question. How would you define "pleasant surprise".
I think we would all appreciate measurable terms versus esoteric terms such as but not limited to. "play better, more enthusiasm, flying around," etc.
Well friend, I neither think nor care in terms of "measurable result's" other than points on the board, so I can't comment there.

There are times when the actions and results of one increase and improve the actions and results of others.

So you think we'll win a couple of games?

I like your optimism. I don't share it but I like it.

This is how rumors get started!

Noway VaTech offers Beamer this early in his h/c career. Well, not unless VaTech has a Ray Tanner clone as their A/D who hires rejects and unknowns as their head football coach. This isn’t a knock on Beamer. The guy could end up being great. It’s a knock on Tanner for lousy hiring. I am waiting to see if this team is significantly better next season before I start whining and complaining about Beamer. Until then I support Beamer 100% even though I was skeptical of the hire. Regardless, IMO Ray Tanners job should be riding on wether or not Beamer succeeds. If I suddenly became emperor of UofSC; Tanner would be on notice of that. Or just fired as my first order of business. On third thought, maybe I would just keep him around and micro manage the f**** out of him and give him menial assignments until he quits or I have reason to fire with cause to get around paying him that buyout.

No, VaTech will not make a similar move because they don't have Caslen as their President and I don't think they have a BOT that likes to stick their collective noses in the athletic department.

In the world of sports, and in this case football, all personal and units are graded on measurable results.
Scores
Yards gained, Yards allowed, 1st downs, turnovers, attempts, completions, etc.
You may not think or care about measurable results, however the rest of the sports world surely does.
These measurable results dictate whether coaches can maintain employment or not. (Just as the rest of the business world.)

Fair enough.

Football can be a funny game; a little bit of faith goes a long way. I don’t know that we’ve thought we could win for a good while now.

Someone said something about “measurables.” Different time I know, but at the end of the 92 season when we went 5-1 after starting 0-5, Tanneyhill finished with 5 tds and 5 picks in those six games. In the 93 “Bennett over the top” game in Athens, Tanneyhill threw a pick on our first possession, and we were 1-11 in third down conversions going into our winning drive at the end. Not much in the way of “measureables.”

Knowing you have a #chance# to win means a heck of a lot. Let’s get it on.

I wonder what this conversation looks like.

Ray: “so umm guys I messed up. Will you give me 13 million dollars to fire Muschamp?”

why would these guys agree too? I’m guessing they got some say over hiring Beamer?
Donations to a non-profit = tax write-offs against all types of income. Same reason they give to help build facilities. They don't miss the money they donate. As far as I know they don't get any say in who the replacement is.

That’s a lot of money for a write off. It’s especially a lot of money to not get anything in return.

I just go off the phone with Beamer and he said he isn't going anywhere... He was born in Charleston and he loves Columbia...

Also, he did say that big changes are coming after the season... @GarnetBeamer and @robertfootball will be his offensive and defensive coordinators and they can switch around once one of them starts bitching about the play calls...

Because I’m the only person on here who has noticed our offensive deficiencies.

Yep. I don't see someone putting up that kind of money without having a say in who is going to be picked.
