Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. Back to back shutout is very promising sign. The Braves however will have to go with an unproven starter in Kyle Wright. He if Vanderbilt fame is a stark reminder that college and Major League Baseball is a far cry from one another. Wright was a dominant front line pitcher in college and that prompted the Braves to pick him early with thoughts that he may progress more quickly to the Majors than some of their promising draftees who are younger. He has the physical tools but sometimes gets in his own head and relies too much on his cutter almost disregarding his quite substantial fastball. The two keys to focus on tonight is his command of the strike zone and his choice of pitches he flies on . If he can be more consistent with his fastball usage and stay ahead of counts he could be an effective pitcher. If he is constantly behind the count and in automatic mode with the a barrage of breaking balls I will be a short night.
The Mets are giving a rookie pitcher his debut tonight . T Megill will make his major league debut tonight. He stands at 6”7 250 lbs and has a good fastball from scouting reports. He has a high K to innings pitch so expect a lot of heat.
Injury report:
Ronald Acuna is a game time scratch with lower back tightness (translation 5 games in two days with travel) he is day to day. That puts the Braves down two players as Heredia is also day to day. Adrianza will start in his stead.
