Can Coach Shane do the unthinkable?

It won’t be easy to turn this ship around, but if coach Shane is going to do it, he has to absolutely nail his assistant coaching hires. And I don’t just mean guys who know Xs and Os........ they need to be guys who can “navigate” Columbia. They need to know how this city ticks. They can’t be afraid to venture over to Two Notch at any hour of the night.

Once those “people” are in place, they can promote a new culture of intense violence on the field, and deviant behavior off it. We need to let boys be boys. Muschamp was too worried about being politically correct and telling kids to vote, when he should have focused on what we paid him to do: win football games.

Dabo has done it in Clemson. He’s created a culture of cheating, lying, malicious, cunning, do-anything-to-win vultures, while he stands at the front smiling saying aw shucks. College football is a festering cesspool and the NCAA will obviously do nothing, so let’s get in “the game”. Dabo has shown that he’s fine with burning in hell for all eternity as long as he wins football games.

Is Shane willing to go down the rabbit hole? Only time will tell.

Go Cocks.

I think we can probably be bowl-eligible next year. I know the team has issues, but we do have some talented pieces to work with, and I genuinely believe next year we're going to realize just how poorly coached this team was. One thing I feel pretty confident about after reading articles like the one below is that our teams under Beamer will not struggle with fundamentals like tackling properly. Honestly, if we can just get the fundamentals straightened out, that fixes a decent number of our issues. We're just not fundamentally sound.

I'm not being overly optimistic about how much Beamer can accomplish in one year; I really just think this was a horribly coached team. And, the reality of the bowl situation these days, you have to pretty bad to not go to a bowl. Any team with a pulse should be able to make it to 6 wins. Bowl eligibility is a fairly low bar I think we can attain next year.

Absolutely. This is so well put. I'm sick and tired of the facade of integrity major programs throw up to try and cover the truth of this game. The real deal is that this sport is ruthless. Not on the field so much, but at the top levels. It's about money and prestige. It is high time the culture at Carolina started to reflect the culture at so called "elite" programs.

Let me pose a question...who here ever lost a fight to a clemson or georgia fan while they were in school? Not me. Went to Athens regularly and ran my mouth and no one did a thing about it. Clemson was even worse. We used to roll up there and literally take their women from them and put them in our lifted trucks and go back to Columbia. Weeks later, when they would go back up the hill, the clemson bois were actually pretty stoked because their girls finally knew how to act like serious sluts. Spurrier understood this. His culture trickled all the way down to the frat houses.

It's a new day though. It's time for some hard hitting social media maniacs to take the reigns at Carolina and bring in these enormous pipe hitters from across the land to run the rock in Billy Brice. Anyone who has participated in a serious tailgate outside of the stadium knows what I mean. You regularly see people having sex, doing drugs, fighting, and generally acting insane, especially at night games. I want trap music, br00tal 5 points culture back in Carolina football. That's what the kids want, so give it to em.

Why do you care what he can do in year one? What he does next year is meaningless as far as wins and losses, or at least it should be. But in typical South Carolina fashion, all we'll hear about is can we get bowl eligible or can we get 8 wins.

The thing that eventually doomed SOS is that his good staff left for other jobs. Dabo has had only 1 staffer leave. If Beamer assembles a "dream team" will they stay long term or leave?

Those guys get paid outrageously and they know that their next gig will be substantially harder. The next place won’t have rampant creating, 40-50 “analysts” deciphering signs, and an acc schedule.
It’s the perfect situation for all involved.

Dabo is a false prophet, and the Bible specifically talks about how they will be dealt with.

Go cocks.

The idea of Spurrier permiated the campus though. I know because I was there. Ask yourself this...could any coach Spurrier coached against beat him in a physical fight? Absolutely not. Spurrier would have whipped out a razor and cut the fool so deep and he would've laughed and talked a bunch of smack while doing it. That culture crept into the team. Remember DJ Swag laying our Andre Ellington back in 2012? Remember his celebration afterwards? That is the epitome of what Carolina football could and should be. I want Beamer to come in and hire people who get that. Shane should be the smiling face of the program while, behind the scenes, fools are going absolutely nuts. I want crazy hype vids, dookie social media accounts, ridiculous clips of coaches getting the team super animated in practice, stories coming out of the program of frat-like culture within the team. The team and coaches should aspire to be what Urban Meyer was with his Florida teams; a powerful street gang committed to preventing anyone from even sniffing they turf.

They're going to be fired or leave like they do at just about every other school. I don't even think Clemson will see their next set of assistants stick around like this group has.

Is this a typo?

I agree with PROPHET here. I want that ridiculous culture back at Carolina. The pseudo-clean image at Clemson is revolting. Let the kids be kids.

I am honestly not sure how to take the posts in this thread. These are clearly some kind of parody accounts.
What?!

I was there in 05 when spurrier dismantled Ron Zook and we beat UF for the first time since electricity was invented. I was there when we were dominating Clemson both in Cola and at Lake Hartwell. I missed the Garcia rout of Bama bc I had a wedding but I watched it on my phone during the service in Myrtle Beach while drinking liquor. Missed 2012 UGA dismantling bc broke up with then GF and she kept tickets. Felt ashamed bc I knew my frat Bros we're burning 5 pts down and getting fired for showing up wasted and late o Tuesday. I will die younger FOR SURE because of tailgating at the Memorial lot and breathing in all that....dust. The only tradition of Carolina football is one of excess. Excess fan intoxication, excess redneck quarterbacks, excess Spurrier doing Spurrier, and excess defense during the fun run of 11 win seasons, top 4 finish, and 1st overall draft pick. Bring back the excess and accept that what makes the real Carolima great is underdog status and commitment to the debauchery that is the City of Dreams. Parents should be terrified to send their kids to cola like they used to be. That's the culture and it sucks that money and loser UGA coaches have all but ruined it.

Were you? Were you?

2005 was the first year of Urban.

You're right. Still a great day. As I recall it was an afternoon game. I remember the Florida fans walking back to their cars past our frat lot and words were exchanged. We were still raging well after midnight.

You get my point though. What makes Carolina a unique place is it's party culture. The football program has to be a part of that. Look at Clemson. They do not have a party culture AT ALL. Their football culture is a perfect fit up there. Dabo would be a great Clemson student. He is the ideal Clemson person. Total redneck who wears his religion on his sleeve and is willing to compromise his integrity to win (so long as he can keep it hidden from the public for the most part). We need the same thing in Cola but Carolina-style. We need a coach who, like Spurrier, is cocky as shit, always smiling, belittles other coaches subtly, and who can convince badass recruits to come to Cola because it's absolutely wild. Shane can be that guy.

I think this is all you really wanted to say and not have an actual dialogue about our new coach. I think he can get the pieces in place to be very successful, regardless of the upstate and what they may or may not be doing. But you do you and let him keep living rent free in your head.

I see a lot of talk about "culture" on here. You know what changes a culture? Only one thing. Winning. I'm sure there are teams in America that have stand up kids, play as hard as they can, etc. But nobody talks about their culture because they win 3 games. And no matter what people want to tell you, there are no scheme geniuses that are going to change the program by designing a new play. Its about players. Beamer needs to hire recruiters, and work whatever bag man scenario can exist in Columbia if he wants to compete. Everybody wants to talk about the "kids", and integrity. Everybody cheats but us, but we do it the right way. Good luck with that as you hope to go to the Belk Bowl every year. College football is big business. Coaches, and others involved in the sport making millions. And players keep those outrageous salaries coming a coaches way. And the difference in getting fired, and keeping that high paying gig is players. Talent wins. And winning is all that matters.

You seem to have forgotten that Mark Richt and Georgia hung half a hundred on Steve Spurrier in 2015 and beat him so bad he quit on Carolina.

No

Or we could apply some logic. Take the top 4-5 teams right now, or look at the ones that have been consistently at the top for the last 5-10 years. Are any of them known for this type of culture you promote? No. Sounds more like you want "the U" mentality from the '80s. Nobody does that who wins. Hell, we didn't even act this way when Spurrier was winning 11 games a year.
