I'll be happy to support this guy. Some on here were secretly hoping to steal Monte Lee. Two years ago he was at CofC. For whatever reason, Ray thought this was the best guy. Figure Ray should know baseball.
And as far as Ray goes, this hire makes little difference in his job security. Women's basketball, baseball, and then on to the lesser sports isn't going to get an AD fired. It is all about football, and to a lesser degree, men's basketball. Going to the final four outs basketball in a safe place. Ray's future is tired to the success, or failure, of Muschamp.

I don't think you know what your'e talking about...
1) USC can't say anything officially until board approves the salary.
2) Kingston is a good hire. Go read what the people who really know college baseball (national writers such as Aaron Fitt etc) are saying about Kingston.
3) The guy from TCU and some other big names were never going to come here because they're already making good money and have great situations, so why would they make a lateral move?
4) Football - Houston guy was NEVER coming here. He was waiting for Texas job to open. That's a fact. Kirby Smart went to his alma mater, and UGA fired a good head coach so they could get him before us. Can't blame smart for that. So we got the next guy on the list.
You act like Tanner just sat on his hands and did nothing. You have a false sense of what South Carolina is on a national scale. We're a very good baseball program, but not everybody wants this job.

I think this is very true, especially with the pressure the fan base puts on the HC (and the AD) because of those two trophies. If someone is set up in a really good situation with basically no pressure, why would they leave? We, the fans, need to take some responsibility in not getting "the big name" we may have wanted. Any coach who may have been interested, looking at our social media boards since June 7, would know that for many fans if they weren't named KOS the fans would be disappointed.
Still frustrating we moved our best coach of any sport in history into the AD role and now the program he used to run is a sh!t storm. Name another school that moved their best coach ever out of that role.
What's next we take Dawn away from WBB and make her AD?

LSU. As Rod would be quick to point out. Then they hired a guy from Notre Dame (baseball powerhouse there, let me tell you) who righted the ship.
It's called leaks. Ray nor USC has made an official announcement. This info is coming from a person in Florida. Ease up Francis!
Has it ever occurred to you that there are two sides to this decision? That perhaps the leak came from USF, which Coach Tanner has no control over? SMH.

Poultry with all due respect this is a Chicken Sh!t post. If you are a true fan and follower of our baseball program you have to know we have NEVER hired a "big name" coach. Holbrook (Nope), Tanner (Nope), June Raines (Not Even). The only semi Big Name was Bobby Richardson who started it all and even then he had never coached college ball before. Finally as a closing thought, had we hired O'Sullivan it's highly likely that OUR new coach would have been at the top of the list to replace him at UF. So he was probably going to be in the SEC either way.
Ok, give me an example, some precident in the last 20 years where a top 10 baseball program actually did what you are suggesting .... that is they hired away the HC at another top tier (top 10) program.

The pressure that Ray will feel will almost all come from the success, or lack there of, of the football team.
Kingston could be the best coach at USC ever, or he could be the next Darrin Horn, but it doesn't really matter that much.
It's Muschamp or bust for Tanner.

FACT. He hired muschamp as a post Herman desperation move. Maybe it works. But piss poor execution.
He wanted OSullivan and did not get it done. We went cheap bc it's what we do and what he can do.

FRANK is biggest hire from a reputable comparable program in the modern era. We NEVER look far and wide and spend $$$ w the best
again who would have been your football and baseball hires? you seem to have a problem with Ray....because he left the baseball team? because cu posters convinced you he sucks? when his time is over will be the time to judge and i think we will all be glad he was here...well,there is 2 or 3 on here that have a hardon for him kinda like the libtards with trump
