Poorly coached

Not only are our coaches bad they’re poor at identifying talent and spending NIL money.

You can say that about nearly every USC coach for the past 60 years. So really nothing different now.

As even Ellis Johnson said a few weeks ago to Phil Kornblut- that he was pretty lucky when he was at USC that we had some huge difference makers right here in South Carolina that were interested in coming here- and that window was a small window- that closed even while Spurrier was still here.

Favored by 13. Lost by 28. To ODU. At home.

I'm also old enough to remember when Garrett Riley was amazing.

But amazing in JV leagues rarely translates to amazing when you play the big boys of the SEC.

Such an odd argument when the reasonable person would say Chadwell and Riley are better than Beamer and Loggains.

We’ve been bad for 60 years because we keep hiring bad coaches like Beamer.

No foresight to hire a Kiffen or Freeze.

Funny that you are delusional enough to think that either would have EVER consider coming here. We couldn't even get Napier to leave Louisiana to come here.

Mississippi State - Maybe. Ole Miss - No.

Ole Miss is the Clemson of that State.

No idea why you guys try to lie about stuff to prove your point.

We were clearly the better job versus Ole Miss until we started to suck which coincided with us hiring Muschamp and Beamer while they had Freeze and Kiffin.

You mean Freeze that got Ole Miss in all kinds of trouble. And Kiffin that said South Carolina players end up pumping gas for a living.

Like I said, we couldn't even get Napier to leave Louisiana to come here. BOTH knew they had better options that SC. Even Rich Rod supposedly turned us down.

Delusions of grandeur.

What's your metric?

The fact the Ole Ball Coach wanted to see if he could somewhere most deemed unwinnable?

That's called an aberration.

I’ll never understand thinking so little of your favorite school.

Why even be a fan if you’re just going to think “we have to suck”

Nobody ever said that. The answer is money. Send some or STFU.

Crying like a little bitch on the internet 24/7 about coaches that would never consider us sure as hell won't get it done.

Does crying about money on the internet 24/7 get it done?

Maybe you should actually start giving some.

I'm in my second year of giving to the Garnet Trust. I don't give a lot, but I give more than the minimum.

If it is really so important to you howling monkeys that you are willing to cry 24/7/365, put your money where your mouth is. Maybe it will help.

Yeah, you SAY that on an anonymous message board. But that doesn't count for much.

As much as you cry like a baby 24/7/365 about NIL, you should think about actually giving money.

How does money help if we think the person spending it is the problem?

Yeah, not a lot of those guy wanting a challenge anymore. Most are looking for the best situation possible. Don't see that being us for any hot name coach.

No one would have called Ole Miss the best situation possible but they took the risk on a great coach with some baggage. Look at them and look at us.

Any metric you can want to use.

From 02-15ish we out recruited them 75% of the time.

We had 18 million more in revenue the year before Spurrier. By 08-09 we had 35 million more in revenue.

The only thing they've been better at us in is hiring coaches since the 2010s.

You think Kiffin is a GREAT coach? He was only 7-6 at UT, 28-15 at So. Cal., 26-13 at FAU, and 38-15 at Ole Miss. he is 2-4 in bowl games. His win total is 99-49. What is so great about that? He got fired at So. Cal. He got released of his duties as OC at Bama.
He has a decent team right now, but that may not be good enough in 2 weeks.

You guys can argue "great" vs "good" vs "effective". But the guy can coach.

He was 7-6 at UT. That was his only year and they had losing seasons the year before and after that.

He took over southern cal when they went under massive probation. I hesitate to judge him based on that.

At FAU? They were 3-9 the three seasons before he got there. He went 11-3, 5-7 and then 11-3. Winning the conference the two 11 win seasons. After he left, they went 5-4, 5-7, 5-7.

At Bama he left to be the head coach at another school. Saying he got "released from his duties" is an odd way to put that he got a promotion. But again, Bama out talented a lot of people, so I hesitate to judge him on his success there.

Then there's Ole miss, who are undoubtedly better with him.

So he improved UT, FAU and Ole Miss. Did a good job at Bama, and failed at a probation stop in California.

All in all, that's a pretty good resume. I would take him in a heartbeat to coach us.

You're lying to yourself if you wouldn't trade Beamer for Kiffin in a heartbeat.

And Alabama lost that national championship game when they didn't have Kiffin.

It's unfortunate it had to be to Clemson.

I just feel like Beamer is doing some really good work here.
Last season sucked but I feel the injuries caused most of that, not the coaching.

With the coaches and talent, he has brought in; we are a much better team. The SEC is the toughest Conf. in the country. If Beamer can have a winning season this year, maybe you will realize he might be better than you thought he was.

A lot of people criticize Tanner for hiring a man with no HC experience. But Beamer did have plenty of FB experience and that is going to make him a good HC.

Spurrier went 7-5, 8-5, 6-6, 7-6, and 7-6 his first 5 years here after being 122-27 before coming here. Beamer has gone 7-6, 8-5, and 5-7. Only one less win than the great had gotten his first 3 years.

I just do not see this as poor coaching. Give him a chance to show what he can do.

Are really much better? The ESPN FPI projects us to win at most 6 games. That would be a one-game improvement with an easier schedule.

At what point does he actually have to prove to be a good HC?

Spurrier took over a worse program and didn't have the transfer portal to quickly replace talent.
I just do not see this as poor coaching. Give him a chance to show what he can do.

No concerns that Beamer is 0-2 against Napier, and Florida wants to hire a new coach. You want to keep a coach that's proven to be worse than their coach?

Kiffin is a very good coach, one of the best in college football. He is an offensive-minded guy, which is most important in today's college football. In fact, his offense today, is ranked number one in college football, averaging 670 yards per game. We are ranked 87th out of 133 teams, averaging 371 yards per game. That's POOR on our part . Hopefully, Beamer will iron out the problems on offense during the off week.

By the way, our defense is ranked 20th in the nation. which is excellent. Looking forward to the match up with Ole Miss: our defense vs their offense. Should be a good one.

Botman - I was waiting for the Stock Account to chime in with his Kiffin fawning.

It seemed a little strange that you served up that Kiffin softball post so the Lurker Account could drool. :)

Uncustomary.

Yes, he got fired at Southern Cal, midway in his 4th season. Was it warranted? He was 28-15 at that point including producing a number 6 team in the nation in his 2nd season. Beamer is 23-19 at practically the same stage, producing the number 23 team in the nation in his 2nd season. Based on that, we should fire Beamer TODAY. I suspect that something other than coaching ability got Kiffin fired. Kiffin has produced Top 10 teams or conference championships at 3 different schools. I would not sell Kiffin short.

Most of us aren't continually thinking about Lane Kiffin.

It's kindof creepy at this point, StockBot.
