1. 5️⃣0️⃣ Countdown to Kickoff: 50 days!

Our countdown to South Carolina's 2019 season opener against North Carolina in Charlotte is now down to just 50 days so today’s player is offensive lineman Sadarius Hutcherson.

A redshirt junior, Hutcherson has appeared in 23 games for the Gamecocks, including 17 starts. He’s played guard each of the last two seasons but is slated to start at tackle this year and anchor what should be a talented and experienced offensive line.

2. Where Jake Bentley ranks in the South Carolina record book

When asked this spring about his place in South Carolina's record book among past quarterbacks, Jake Bentley downplayed that aspect of his senior year, turning the focus to team goals for his final season in Columbia.

Bentley's personal goals revolve around continuing to clean up his mechanics and better protecting the football - both aspects that will ultimately increase the team's chances of winning - but there's no doubting his opportunity to become one of the most accomplished players in Carolina history.

Jake Bentley's career numbers - All-time ranking in SC history

• Passing Yards – 7,385 – 4th
• Pass Attempts – 972 – 4th
• Pass Completions – 610 – 3rd
• Completion Percentage – 62.8 – 2nd
• Passing Touchdowns – 54 – 3rd
• Starting Quarterback Wins – 19 – 6th
• Total Offense – 7,533 – 5th
• Touchdowns Responsible For – 62 – 4th

So, what type of season would it take for Jake Bentley to own the above records? Frankly, if the Gamecocks' senior simply matches his numbers from either of his last two seasons, he'll rewrite the South Carolina history book for his position.

Bentley will need just 2,568 passing yards to surpass Todd Ellis' record of 9,953 yards (and that alone would also give him the record for total offense, also surpassing Ellis). He'll need to complete just 144 passes on 379 attempts to surpass Steve Taneyhill in completions (753) and Ellis in attempts (1,350). Just nine touchdown passes would give Bentley 63 career passing scores and move him ahead of Taneyhill's school best of 62, while 13 more total touchdowns would surpass Connor Shaw's record of 74 touchdowns responsible for.

Again, to his credit, Bentley hasn't seemed concerned with the individual records he could set this season.

"I don't, I don't," he said this spring "I just really try to play hard for my teammates. That's one thing that I always live by, if your personal goals line up with the team goals, then it'll all work out. That's really all I want to do is just win for my teammates and let all that fall in place."

Perhaps Bentley is more interested in this: If Bentley leads the Gamecocks to nine wins this season he'll surpass Connor Shaw's 27 career wins as a starting quarterback
