Week One Preparation

I wrote a little bit about what makes this a different week one game from others, and how the Gamecocks are preparing for it. Quotes from Beamer and others in here.

How is everyone feeling going into Saturday?

D-Line Recruiting Note

I just did some research for a Fact or Fiction article that should come out tomorrow on the National site and what I found was staggering. I'm just going to copy/paste the relevant section below:

"But here we stand at the end of summer with four 4-star D-Line commitments who all rank within the Rivals250. If all four hold until signing day, it would be arguably the best DLine class for South Carolina since 2011 when they landed 2 4-stars and of course an all-world 5-star in Jadeveon Clowney. In fact, there's an argument to be made this would be better than that. I went all the way back to the oldest Rivals rankings in 2002 and never once saw more than three 4-star or higher rated DLinemen in a single class in Gamecock football history. So whether they ultimately have the best DLine class in the country or not, they arguably have the best in their history, at least in the Rivals era."

Adam Friedman or I will link the full article here tomorrow.

How To Watch Saturday's Game On TV

I've seen a few questions surrounding the best way to watch the game on your TV Saturday night, and I will say, it's, unfortunately, going to be slightly more complicated than just turning to the right cable channel. That said if you have a steady internet connection, and a smart TV or Roku, or Apple TV, or Firestick (or if you don't, now would be the time to get one), here's an easy way to make sure you catch the game on Saturday night.

1. ESPN+. I don't have this app, but if you want to pay the $9.99 a month you'll get access to all the extended network games for the whole season. But, if you already have a cable subscription, I wouldn't pay the extra fee unless you just want to. There is an easier solution.

2. Download the WatchESPN app on your Smart TV, Roku, AppleTV, Firestick, or other streaming devices. Then you'll log-in with your cable subscription info. Assuming you have the normal SECNetwork as part of your cable subscription, you will get access to SECN+ on the WatchESPN app at no extra charge. If you don't have a SmartTV or streaming device, you could also just plug your laptop or computer directly into your TV using an HDMI cord, and then pull up https://www.espn.com/watch/ and log-in with your cable subscription.

I would test run this before 7:30 on Saturday so you have some familiarity with the program. I'll be happy to troubleshoot any questions you might have in this thread.

Hope this was helpful. I mostly typed it up for my dad. You're welcome pops.

I was going to wait until my recruiting wrap-up on Friday to reveal that I put in a futurecast for #1 overall ATH in the 2023 class Nyckoles Harbor, but @cockandload noticed it, and I also saw that Twitter is catching wind, so I figured I'd go ahead and announce it. Feel free to check the date vs. wherever else you see it.

Final Installment in the Preseason Game by Game Previews: Week 13 Clemson

If you've kept up with all the previews throughout the offseason, I ended up with the Gamecocks going 8-4 with wins over Georgia State, Charlotte, SC State, Kentucky, Mizzou, Vandy, Florida, and Tennessee and losses at Arkansas, vs. UGA, at Texas A&M, and at Clemson.

What do we think? Successful season if it were to play out that way? Am I drinking the kool-aid too much?
