Insurance companies pondering not paying Covid hospitalization costs for non vaccinated.

I’m not vaccinated and I’m ok with that as long as they stop paying for
smoker’s lung damage,
Folks who have type 2 diabetes which is almost exclusively caused by poor eating,
folks who get in car accidents but aren’t wearing seat belts,
anyone’s drug addiction treatment since no one forced you to use that first time,
a morbidly obese person’s heart surgery,
VD treatment (unless you were raped),
I could go on but I have work to get done.

Most policies give discounts to non smokers already.

Yeah, my insurance gives a small discount. That's a world of difference from not covering something.

Maybe they should just offer a discount to vaccinated people?

Insurance isn’t worth the paper it’s written on these days. The insurance industry is a total scam and has been for a while. Unless it’s free from your job your better off paying outta pocket. Screw all insurance companies.

That won’t happen. And, I haven’t heard that anyway. Over 50% of the country is covered by a government health plan anyway - Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid or a Medicaid HMO. ALL of those plans have existing CMS regulations that they MUST cover COVID diagnosed care at 100% (no patient responsibility). Large commercial plans followed suit and would be under extreme public scrutiny to go backwards.

Insurers made record profits last year during COVID and are on a similar trajectory this year. And, they paid COVID claims. They aren’t going to take that blowback of non-coverage when they are rolling in the profits. The reason their profits are so high is they are paying less number of claims overall, but interestingly didn’t reduce premiums. Cha-Ching - profits, profits and profits.

You want to give them more reasons to deny coverage?!?! Wow, they don't want to pay for anything already. Lord help you if you need something that they consider "experimental."

Insurance companies should be required to be non-profit corporations...with medical professionals making decisions on coverage, not accountants.

I’m looking to other countries for my medical care. We have turned healthcare into a production line in America. Very, very few private doctors left who are doctors because the were called to HELP people. It’s not that way in other countries. We rank way below many less blessed countries in health care. Greed is the deadliest sin and always the reason civilizations collapse.

I’m sure that would end up to be racist in some form. People in the urban areas don’t even have access to copiers

That would be fair. Willing to take a chance, like gambling, but not just your life but those who may not even know you. Let em die and let their life insurance cover the cost. Im sure their families will appreciate their dedication to ignorance!!!!

I had a health issue a few years back while in Costa Rica and had to visit a local clinic. Better than any comparable experience I've had in the US.

No, not at all.

What I was saying was that if we're going to pick behaviors to eliminate people from coverage, there are a lot I would put forward before the refusal to take an experimental vaccine.

But no, I don't take the premise very seriously.

Of course, having said that, it's also on the "it wouldn't surprise me" list if someone tried it.

This. Sometimes I feel like I have to jump through hoops to give my patients med they need. Insurance companies won’t cover med unless I prove cheaper med doesn’t work and has failed. And most times it’s multiple failed drugs and trials before they will cover. Some insurances are limiting the number of visits a provider can have with a patient and won’t cover visits over a certain number.

Of course it’s not true.......yet

Believe they need to find out what the vaccines are doing first.

Insurance companies have been drunk for decades.

Blockchain will to sober them up very soon.

Imagine paying for car insurance only when you are in your car, etc.

Agree. We're seeing this everywhere now >> thinly-veiled threats of mandates to sell a vaccine.

Can you imagine a flowchart of all of the conflicts of interest between the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry? Bed buddies as long as the party lasts.
