I was in high school and college when Jay Thomas was doing his gig in Charlotte. EVERYBODY listened to his morning show.

Nothing like it really until John Boy and Billy came on the air.

Didn't know that was Jay. Used to listen to him on my way to work from Fort Mill to Charlotte. He was an early Don Imus/Howard Stern.

Happened in Charlotte. Big WAYS, AM 610, was in Charlotte, and Jay was the Top 40 MAN in Charlotte back in the early Seventies. Stan and Sis Kaplan bought the station in 1965 for $550,000 and sold it and its FM counterpart later for $13.5 million. Here is their Big WAYS story.
