OT: Anybody got any good new music recommendations? Love the Greta Van Fleet referral several months

These guys are a new find and it’s sad because they have been around forever . Great Canadian Progressive Rock band . The Vocalist Lead Guitarist, Ian Thornley , is a freak of nature . Should be illegal to be that talented . Definitely not for everybody , but if you appreciate amazingly technical musicianship check out all of their stuff . Amazing band
Thanks for posting. I dig his voice....

This isnt anything new, but the live version of this album is one of my favorite records of all time. Never get tired of it. When Adam Duritz ad-libs, it is lyrical gold...

Check out Ruen Brothers. Just saw them at Albino Skunkfest in Greer and they crushed it. (Also caught some Jim Lauderdale and bunch of other great bands.) Couple of young British fellas playing killer throwback music. The legendary Rick Rubin produced their latest. Also, War and Treaty. North Carolina couple playing a mix of soul, gospel and blues. They flat testified.

His band Thornley was bad ass. Was listening to XM radio years ago and found them. Bought the album and crank it up every couple of months.

For all you hard rock and heavy metal music lovers out there age 40 and over, there is a spectacular magazine from England who covers these genres for artists old and new. The publication is called Classic Rock Magazine. The subscription is a little pricey but it is worth every penny. In reading this magazine, you will discover how vibrant these genres are in Europe and elsewhere. At the same time, you will also realize how big of a musical cesspool the USA has devolved into!

This album will be released on June 21st. Will be playing Heritage Park Amphitheatre in Simpsonville on May 28th with opening bands Driving and Crying and the Gin Blossoms. Here's a couple of songs ofo the album.

And 2 very good albums came out last Friday. This first probably on the verge of being great.

And this one

Yeah he is an absolutely incredible talent . Not many like him around . He was actually slated to replace Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver at one point but he ended up turning Slash down to focus on Big Wreck and Thornley . Can you imagine the guitar jams that would have happened between him and Slash . Ian is one of my favorite players hands down right now .

I had never heard of Big Wreck until reading this thread. Have been listening to them constantly over the last few months. Cannot believe I had never heard of them....

I hadn't heard of them either until reading this thread. Then when I realized it was the same guy from Thornley (Ian), I started searching back to see if his original band had put out any additional music. Looks like they did another album, but with much less success than the first. I also noticed Big Wreck plays a lot of the old Thornley songs which is pretty awesome.

If you guys like Big Wreck and are into Ian’s type of playing , another one of my Favorites with a very similiar style to Ian is Andy Timmons . Andy is a Texas Instrumental guitarist and he’s one of the best on the planet . He kind of has the Hendrix / Eric Johnson thing going on with his own spin on it . Amazing player and one of the nicest guys in the business . Met him several times and he is an absolute gentleman . Definitely check out any of his stuff .

Yes it does !! Very Quickly . It’s fun the first few times and but it gets old very quick . Thank god i don’t have to do it as much anymore . Nice living in a tourist town !!! Saw a meme that said “Musicians : People who will haul $3000 worth of gear in a $300 dollar car 300 miles away to make $100 bucks ...”. So true sometimes

Kid rock done right. Maybe there is hope for this generation musically!

Can't get enough of Rainbow Kitten Surprise lately. Another great band to come out of NC.
I keep hearing good things about this band but can't look into them bc the name's too stupid. You'd think they'd have been advised to change that somewhere along the line

Its better than Greta Van Fleet. That has got to be one of the worst names for a band that I have ever heard.....

Andy Timmons, John5, and Vinnie Moore are a few rock guitar guys that have blown me away recently. All instrumental albums. Face melters, each and every one!

Andy Timmons is an absolute genius . I’ve met him several times and he is genuinely one of the nicest most down to earth guys you could ever meet . Such an amazing guy . He actually showed up at an impromptu blues open jam I was playing in Pensacola and he sat in on a few tunes . His last album was out of this world . A few other players that will blow you away are Mateus Asato , Mark Letterri (from Snarky Puppy) and Isahia Sharkey . Check all of them out. Mateus is my current fav right now .
