Why are Carolina fans are still not happy with Coach Shane Beamer???

Is it because he once coached at Carolina? Or is it because Coach Beamer's first name is Shane???

Coach Shane Beamer is ready to be our Head Coach.. People here wanted Lincoln Riley before Muschamp was hire and Riley is much younger and less experienced than Shane Beamer at that time, 5 years ago.

The reason why Lincoln Riley is a good coach, he inherited a good team like Oklahoma Sooners and really didn't have to sell the team or school to recruits...

Shane Beamer on the other hand, Beamer inherited a crapy team, crapy program at South Carolina and he is turning heads in recruiting and hasn't coached a game yet at South Carolina...

In time, Beamer will be the next Steve Spurrier at South Carolina and will have better numbers after his 3rd year as head coach... And will beat Clemson in his 3rd or 4th year at Carolina...

Mark my words...

Hoops visitor this week

Michael Nwoko—a 6-foot-10, 245-pound big man—is expected Wednesday. Plays at The Burlington School in North Carolina and Brian Steele is his lead recruiter. Very early in his recruitment but he just got offered from Sienna and Wake Forest.

Gamecocks could have one more unofficial visitor this week (trying to confirm it to make sure it will happen) but are starting an official visit with 7-footer Christian Reeves tonight that will go until Wednesday.

I have to admit straight up that I think the value of the entire education has been diminished during this debate. And I believe any parent whose child is not a student/athlete can empathize with just how valuable a full scholarship, unlimited meals and nutritionist's, incredible health facility access, and health care, truly does cost. Since these student/athletes will presumably have some freedom in terms of picking up "endorsements" the whole idea of social media followers would seem to have some economic value to the student/athlete. I was thinking particularly about touchdown celebrations, or big hit celebrations, anything that a student/athlete could do to add to their social media following. How far will the officials of games permit the student athletes to go? Are we in another dimension now in regards to behaviors during the game outside the game itself?

Some thoughts on Brubaker

Login to view embedded media I'm a huge fan of Brubaker and want he brings to the table from an athletic perspective. He's a big body that moves well and has zero physical limitations. On film, Brubaker beats up on the smaller competition, driving defenders off the ball and throwing them around in pass protection. He also does a nice job getting key blocks down the field. Brubaker has never faced the type of competition he'll face when he arrives in Columbia so it'll be very important that he arrives on campus in the best shape possible so his learning curve isn't as steep as it could be.

I'm a big fan of the Gamecocks trying to recruit talent from further up the coast and Brubaker is just the latest reward for their efforts.

Dawn Staley a ‘top head coaching candidate’ for NBA opening, report says

I say go for it! Make history!

Dawn Staley a ‘top head coaching candidate’ for NBA opening, report says

South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley is being targeted to possibly fill an NBA coaching vacancy, according to one prominent league insider.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania, citing league sources, tweeted a list of the “top head coaching candidates” for the open Portland Trail Blazers job, with Staley among the group. Others include San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon, Los Anggeles Clippers assistant coach Chauncey Billups, Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Mike D’Antoni and Spurs vice president of basketball operations Brent Barry.

Portland fired coach Terry Stotts last week.

This isn’t the first time Staley’s name has been mentioned with a possible NBA job. Her name was mentioned over the fall with her hometown Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers ended up hiring Doc Rivers.

Staley also was mentioned in opening for North Carolina men’s basketball job. The Tar Heels ended up promoting assistant Hubert Davis to replace Roy Williams.

Staley was asked about possibly coaching men’s college basketball or in the NBA when she met with reporters on April 13.

“No ounce of me really wants to coach outside of college,” Staley told reporters via videoconference. “I don’t know why my level of interest has never been to coach in the WNBA, NBA or coach on the men’s (college) side. I don’t know why my competitiveness won’t allow me to go there. Maybe because I think there’s too much work to be done in our game. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done in women’s basketball.”

Staley has built South Carolina women’s program into a women’s powerhouse, winning the national championship in 2017 and leading the Gamecocks to two other Final Four appearances, including this past season. USC has won five regular season Southeastern Conference championships and six tournament championships.

Staley, Naismith Hall of Fame inductee, is also the coach for USA women’s national team. The USA team is playing in a FIBA AmeriCup qualifying tournament and played Dominican Republic on Saturday.
