Road to 6-6: First up is Jacksonville State

Battle of the 2 Gamecocks!! JSU is 7-2 and will be coming off a “bye” weekend, they played on Wednesday night. Their 2 losses are, ironically, to Coastal and Liberty (Chadwells teams). They appear to be a little inconsistent in wins. They hammer some teams and are close with others, despite their opponents are being fairly similar CUSA talent. Id guess thats bc JSU has always been a team with lots of P5 transfers so inconsistent chemistry.

Final verdict? They’re a good scrappy G5 team, but, we should be able to create a few mismatches like Harbor vs any DB they have, and Rattler is just a better talent than anyone they have on D so he will make plays.

I think we SHOULD win this one, score 35-21

Ray Tanners non-conference scheduling disaster

Ok. Yet another Ray Tanner special is our non conference scheduling. Strength of schedule only matters to playoff contenders. Otherwise its just wins and losses. We all know our SEC schedule is already brutal. And obviously we play Clemson who has been a consistent top 10 program for what, 10 years now (thankfully seems to be ending now).

So that said, WHY THE HECK is Ray scheduling teams like North Carolina? Our other 3 non conference should be basically sure wins. Along with Vandy, that gives us a 4 win base every season, so 2 wins more and we bowl every year.

Ray has now scheduled Virginia Tech, Miami, App State, UNC again, for future opponents. WHY??? Why is he determined to make our steep hill steeper?

A little more on McLeod

We posted the story when it came out a few hours ago. We'll probably add a few details on the podcast tomorrow as well, but all I'll add at the moment is we'd expect to see McLeod's name in the portal once it opens. I doubt we'll get a ton more publicly from the program itself.

There are folks in McLeod's camp posting on social media about their side of the story, but as you know, sometimes those things can be skewed a bit. Regardless, it would seem the door is pretty closed here.
