Baseball - George Will

Interesting thoughts from Will about needed changes to the MLB game.

The number of strikeouts is way up as is the length of the game and the time between pitches. All for various reasons. The pace has slowed to a crawl.

Some possible solutions:

Move the mound back a foot. Whitey Ford was 5'10". Today, many pitchers are 6'4". Of course, this would take years to implement fully.

A 20 second pitch clock.

Requiring four players on the infield or 2 on each side when the pitcher releases the ball.

Require the pitcher to step off the mound before throwing to first.

I Think they a worth considering.

Thoughts? Other ideas?

Baseball is losing its entertainment value. It’s time to change the rules. Opinion by George F. Will https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/07/09/time-has-come-save-baseball-by-changing-rules/

Please, all of you answer a simple question about contributing towards an NIL fund.

I just want to ask a simple question. Share your opinions about it if you'd like, but at least answer my question.

Do you think there are at least 50,000 Gamecock fans out there that would donate $100 per year to an NIL fund to pay to players?

That would be less than 28 cents per day, and would be an annual amount of $5 million. When you break it down to almost a quarter a day, it's hard to turn that down, you cheap bastards!

Thank you for your time.

I just wished Ryan Hilinski could have stuck it out here.

I think he made up his mind along before the season ended and before Beamer showed up to have a good long talk. Somehow, I think Mike Bobo got ahold of Ryan's ear and got him to transfer while he was left to take care of the team.
