Unusual call and assessment

I played football for 12 years and have been an avid fan of the game for the 44 years ever since and I have never seen a call like the one last night. Clemsux had the ball and it was 3rd and 1. They ran a play and picked up the first down but were called for an illegal formation. Instead of assessing a 5 yard penalty and repeating 3rd down the refs gave them the first down and assessed the penalty afterward making it first and fifteen. Were they just making up rules as they went last night? It seemed so.

Spurriers most under discussed achievement:

Spurriers had 10 straight seasons from 2005-2014 without a single losing season and only 1 .500 season. He finished 3rd or better in the SEC East 6 out of those 10 years. And had a winning record in bowls, 5-4. All at South Carolina. And produced 2 of the best QBs we ever had.

Obviously we know the floor fell out in 2015. That was the pre-portal era. He couldnt land a Spencer Rattler, Jalen Hurts, Bo Nix or Jayden Daniels like coaches these days can. Who knows how 2015 goes if he could have, we had a walk-on QB.

But that year 1 through year 10 run, not a single losing season and 3rd or better in the East 6/10 years, probably his most under appreciated stat.

USC student sucker punched UK fan

Just curious if anyone saw it. After the game Saturday night, a group of USC students were talking smack to an older couple wearing blue. Another man named Ryan Lemon (58 yrs old), which is also a UK reporter, intervened to deescalate the situation. As he was doing his best to defuse the problem, a student punched him in the jaw so hard it knocked him out and cracked his jaw. He never saw the punch coming and awoke with a student in what he thought, wearing handcuffs. He's unsure who punched him, but would like to know if anyone witnessed it because he's not 100% sure they detained the right individual.
If you dont know Ryan, he's the nicest most harmless man you've ever met. He volunteers in the community and is beyond kind.

He said he has to eat applesauce for 6 weeks and is in constant pain. Its absolutely ridiculous.
