Opt-Outs by seasons end?

If the season gets any worse over the next few weeks, do you see any of the guys opting out to prepare for the draft? I don't see Rattler doing it regardless, but guys like Legette or Wells not wanting to risk further injuries, especially Legette who may go 1st rd now. Obviously opting out of a bowl may not even be an issue if they don't win 6, but with the next 2 being tough road games.....2-6 is going to be tough for guys to get up for every weekend after. Beamer will try to salvage what he can on the season, but this one just seems like a lost cause.

Folks - Losing to Florida should not have been a surprise

Florida is more talented than we are based on what I saw on the field. They aren't a lot more talented, but they are more talented along the lines.

Florida's defense, while not all that good, is much better than South Carolina's defense.

This was not a surprise loss.

We have significant offensive line issues, and we have more than significant defensive issues that aren't going to be fixed this year.

Our special teams is making too many mistakes this year and is not helping the team.

If this game had been at Florida, we would have lost today by 3 touchdowns.

Tommy Moody passes

I met Tommy once at the funeral of a family member of my wife. He was as friendly as everyone says.

Will Muschamp
Shane Beamer
Monte Lee
Chad Holbrook
Drew Meyer
Coach Tanner
Coach Kingston and more make statements.

I listened to Tommy just this past weekend on the high school scoreboard show Friday night. (I flip back and forth between that show and Phil Kornblut's high school scoreboard show). Both shows do a great job highlighting high school sports.

Tommy knew all the coaches just like you'd expect and they would often call in to talk to him and his cohost Justin.

Tommy was talking about Bobby Richardson and presenting him an award just a week or so ago at an event at USC. The "Father of USC Baseball" award was created for Coach Richardson to honor him by the Letterman's Club. Tommy was talking about how Coach Richardson had been having some health issues but he came to the event.

It's going to be impossible to replace his knowledge of USC baseball. Lost a lot of knowledge and true stories with Tommy's passing. No one else out there like him and Tom Price before him.

The next person in line with that knowledge of USC baseball is probably Teddy Heffner.

Unbelievably Bad

I think one thing we found out last night is that this is probably the worst team overall offensively and defensively we have had since Brad Scott. Both sides of the ball were totally physically whipped by a decent but not great team. We found out that the bright spot for our Line was pass blocking (s/c). They only gave up 9 sacks, but we had over 300 yds passing. The run blocking though was good enough to only have minus 2 yds rushing. I guess it could have been worse, and we may find out in 2 weeks. But, it was PITIFUL to say the least. We only have one good SEC receiver - Xavier Leggette. I still think Rattler is a good QB. This was not on him. Those are the only good SEC quality players on the team presently.

The defensive line was equally as bad. Our DTs had 1 tackle each. The team had NO sacks all game and very few pressures. The run defense was horrible. As in the past we still have no idea how to set the edge or fill gaps. Are we even coaching that? The DBs looked lost and simply could not cover the second string receivers playing for UNC. I wonder if they have been coached at all preseason. It didn't look like it. It wasn't that Drake Maye was a Heisman QB, it was we were just that bad. When he gets hit and throws the ball straight up in the air like a punt, we should have easily intercepted the ball or at a minimum knock it down. Instead, we give up a TD. That was unbelievable and inexcusable. The talent deficiency question I think has been answered for now. These are not SEC caliber players.

We will really find out just how bad this team is in 2 weeks against UGA.
