After the asymptomatic infections were determined, Fauci STILL did not advocate the public purchasing of N95 masks, but rather the same plain cloth facial coverings that people wear today. And for that matter, Fauci NEVER advised AGAINST wearing masks or face coverings, just not to purchase N95 masks and other PPE that were in low supplies and most needed by primary health-care providers.

So that was NOT a "flip-flop", that was updated advice based on updated knowledge of a novel virus that the medical community was learning about on the fly as the virus was spreading through the world.....

As someone who's in a group that the cdc advises not wearing a mask, these mandates are basically telling me to sit at home even though I am fully vaccinated. That is not ok.
But since they wont give us hard numbers as to when things can get somewhat back to normal, my hope is our spineless leaders are just waiting for the school year to end before lifting some restrictions as to not upset the teachers unions but just dont want to tell us that.
But dont get me wrong, if a private business wants to have a mask mandate, fine, I'll go somewhere that doesnt. I just want that option.
