What other teams do you pull for outside of the Gamecocks and why?

I enjoy program turn arounds and it just so happens the Gamecocks fall in that category since Shane Beamer took over. I also follow Illinois (Bret Bielema) and Akron (Joe Moorhead) closely. Bielema took charge at Illinois the same year Beamer came to Carolina. Last year was Moorhead’s first at Akron and the Zips easily had one of the worst rosters in the FBS before Moorhead’s arrival.

Other schools I’m paying attention to are UMASS (Don Brown), Colorado State (Jay Norvell), New Mexico State (Jerry Kill), and Colorado (Deion Sanders).

Hadn't thought about that beatdown Georgia put on TCU in the NC championship game in a while.

Anybody think that changes how the committee looks at teams this year?

I haven’t listened to much of the interviews and just wanted to hear the boards input. Sounded like Loggains showed some good thoughts Wednesday. I found it interesting from Heath that the UNC game point spread had moved a couple of points their way, which is fine by me!

Many coming to South Carolina:

Looking to take both my boys (age 14 and 11) to the game. Looks like Houston is the closest airport to fly into. For the people who have been before, what sections at the stadium are the visitors, did you stay in college station or on the outskirts, any advice. Thanks

Oregon, Washington, Utah, and the Arizonas won’t be far behind.

I had a long one-on-one conversation with Montario Hardesty about the running backs. On what he thinks this room looks like, who reminds him of himself, the challenge of developing pass protection and much more. Plenty more from this conversation that didn't make the article, so if y'all have any more questions I might have an answer!

Northwestern separates Pat Fitzgerald from university. I guess there will be some grumpy Wildcats fans seeing Fitzgerald fired and lashing out at Northwestern. In today's expectations of the responsibility of a head coach, no way would Bear Bryant would survive.

If Carolina could play any out of conference team (outside of Clemson) who would you want to schedule on a yearly basis?

I’d want Southern Cal. Chance to settle the “real USC” debate and maybe take a road trip every now and then.

Norte Dame will be coming to Columbia to play South Carolina in men's basketball. I think the last time South Carolina played Norte Dame, Digger Phelps was their coach. Need to add Marquette to the schedule.

Pre-season picks are out. South Carolina was picked to finish third in the SEC East by the aggregate media, and the Gamecocks got one vote to win the SEC.

Antwane Wells Jr. is a second-team WR, Trey Knox is a third-team TE, and Tonka Hemingway is a third-team DT.

And of course Kai Kroeger and Mitch Jeter were first-team specialists. Dakereon Joyner is a third-team all-purpose.

I wanted to see how Frank Martin did this year at UMass. Although an unintentional injury, the very first thing I saw told me everything I needed to know.
